wrote up a little article

All i can say is: Holy Morricone! QT is using him to do the entire thing?!! This is amazingly cool news. It had to happen sometime. Morricones music is perfect for QTs movies anyways. But all I keep thinking of is QT saying how he never wants to have one guy score his film. I guess he realized if its good enough for his hero Sergio Leone, its good enough for him!

Inglourious Basterds Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Ennio Morricone

"Inglourious Bastards Titoli" (what will THAT sound like?)

Cant believe it! This may very well be QTs best soundtrack ever. Its gonna be so great to put that score on the stereo really loud.

YEAH! Awesome news!

I can totally understand Quentin’s fear of somebody creating a score for one of his films. I hope Marricone has some cool tunes left in him!

I wonder if QT will give notes on what type of music hes looking for or if he’ll just let Morricone run wild. It will be really interesting.

he’ll give Morricone a box full of Macaroni Combat movies for homework

This will def have Spaghetti Western type cues too. A Spaghetti Western set in Nazi Occupied France. QT will tell him he wants the opening title theme to be as good as the GBUs. I hope Morricone creates something that blows us away.

I can’t wait, this is going to be f#cking AWESOME.

Word.

totally absolutment definitely claramente whatever fucking awesome for sure

Wow, this is fantastic news! I love Morricone!

FUCK YEAHHHHH!!! This has got to be the best news I have heard yet regarding Inglourious Basterds! Wow, as soon as I heard I just yelled out a massive roar of a “YEH”. Man, if this is true, and Morricone is scoring the whole of it, it pretty much makes my wish (of a few years) come true. It’s like what the fuck else can you do to legitimise your WWII, which among other things homages spaghetti westerns. This is fucking great news, I’m just so excited.

One of the reasons is because my dad is a massive Morricone fan, and has been listening to his music since he was very young. He has so many Morricone soundtracks on Vinyl as well as CD. It was great to watch Volume 2 with him because it has a few Morricone tracks. When one of the themes of Navajo Joe came on, his eyes lightened, it must have broght back memories of watching that film when he was young. So imagine if one of the OST’s in his collection is Inglourious Basterds? Man, this is fucking awesome!

It’s like I had IB in mind and all the different aspects set up in my mind of how I wanted it to be. Despite some of them not coming to fruition - like being serious in tone, having serious actors, and a grand epic story line - there are others which have come true like having Robert Richardson on board, some old school actors I love, and now a score composed by Morricone himself.

What this news does is show us that QT ain’t fucking around. This may be the masterpiece to end Pulp Fiction’s reign afterall…

SHIT DUDE THATS FUCKIN AMAZING! IVE BEEN DREAMIN ABOUT THIS!

thats like… amazing, that will be freaking amazing!! no imagine he comes up with an amazing spagehtti western theme tune and all that stuff, holy fuck.

dont worry guys, i think quentin knows what hes doin, he knows ennio will do a good job on this.

YES!!! YEEEEEEEEEEES FUCKIN SHITMOTHERFUCKER YES AWESOME!

I believe it will be!! With QT making this decision, it takes his film making to a another level! This may be the beginning of a different, more mature QT by letting a great man do one of his film scores! I wonder what type of film score this will be, I’ve heard alot of Morricone’s scores, but most of them sound like period pieces to me and QT doesn’t want this feel like a period piece, he wants an in your face WWII movie. This is going to be quite interesting to see what Morricone’s going to do for this film. What ever he does, I’m glad QT decided to do this, I’ve always wondered when he was going to switch to letting someone create a film score to one of his movies, and looks like he’s finally going to let it happen! He’s gonna hit it out of the ball park with this one!! Go QT!!!

Like I stated, Im just happy about Il Maestro working with QT. I have no problems with this film at all (open mind) and I expect it to be a great one.

Can we discuss about the movie? Because I don’t care at all about anyone’s expectations. We are not here to order the film we want, but to see the movie QT wants to make, he ain’t a fucking whore we pay to make our desires come true. Cinema is not about consumption.

And I read the script, believe me it’s so much more than just a Kill Bill feel, it’s about all QT has done as a filmmaker, with a real and personal vision on cinema. There is a great story here, and something more I won’t spoil. I sincerly think it’s his best script since Pulp Fiction. Hans Landa, Aldo Raine, Donowitz and Shoshanna are the best characters he’s ever written, hands down. I can already say that you will be sold at the very first scene, the best written opening sequence I’ve witnessed in ages. So calm down and be patient, because now, with Ennio Morricone on board, we could have a Sergio Leonesque western set in WWII, so in other words a future classic movie. You don’t find it exciting? I do.

Im defintely excited about it. It sounds like a culmination of all his films and talent really. Its not going to be a serious film, but thats ok.

Hearing the score for the first time is going to be a thrill too. This wont be a serious type of score, but it will still be great.

Arguing for the sake of arguing is rediculous. I’m glad the moderators stepped in to stop it. I understand we may not always agree on things, but too much pride will kill this forum or anyother forum.

The fact is, no one in here really knows what QT is going to do in the future. SL Westerns are serious movies, they’re genre movies but still serious movies. Jackie Brown is a serious, mature film, and while it’s not a classic like some of the films mentioned above, it’s still a serious piece of art.

As for IB, I can’t wait for this movie to come out!!! I wonder what made QT change his mind on using a toally original score for his film? What do you guys think is the reason? It’ll probably be the first time that I’ve baught a film score before I’ve seen the film. I’m definately going to buy it when it’s comes out!

Yeah, it’s never a good idea to go up against a global moderator

I’m still a bit sceptical about this news, as soon as we receive official confirmation I’ll be able to relax. But I think it’s always nice when QT tries something new, every film is a chance for him to change things around and improve. Having a dedicated composer for the soundtrack is a nice way to mix things up. And of course, who better than the great Morricone?! It would be nice to hear a piece of music and know that it was created specifically for QT and IB. It brings a new facet to his film.

I wonder if QT’s gonna try a little arm-twisting on Ennio to incoporate an electric guitar for this soundtrack! ;D I bring that up because in the past few decades, Morricone seems to have been relying on a traditional, mellow orchestra for his scores. It’s guaranteed that the Shosanna sections will have the lush, emotional themes that Morricone’s been dishing out in recent times, but I wouldn’t be surprised if QT pushes Ennio to go for that experimental/rockin’ sound one last time. Even Alessandro Alessandroni (The GBU’s theme whistler & howler) is still going strong after all these years. I can dream, can’t I?

Ify, I think this info is pretty close to be 100% true since the article quoted Morricone directly. I can’t wait hear the opening titles and check out if he can do better than The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

And please, guys, Ify and Pete, if you want to argue, do it over PM. Cause this thread was first meant to excited people about this great news : Ennio Morricone being in IB, the wish almost everybody had. And with all your posts, people can’t get the news or only if they want to go through A LOT of your arguments posts.

And please n°2, don’t answer to my post either cause it seems you’re now a bit calm down. I don’t want you to jump on this again cause I’m mentioning your argument again. Or use PM to reply to me, or the mod chat room. Thanks guys.
