The Most Visually Stunning Films You've Seen?

In Mann movies, he has this artificial “glow” around someone. It seems very fake when he uses it, the character doesn’t seem to be in that scene. It seems like he was digitally placed in or something. Also, it makes the character look older than they are as the hair often turns a greyish colour. I don’t know if it’s to create a specific feeling or it’s a commentary on the character, but it doesn’t look good at all. This is most prominant when he shows De Niro’s character in Heat and Cruise’s character in Collateral.

It’s actually the lack of artificial light that gives it that look. Yeah, there are some scenes where he has a blue or green light to signify something (I.E. The scene in Heat where De Niro stands and looks out of the window into the ocean) but I’m not sure if thats what you were referring to or not, if so, I could see how someone wouldn’t like it.

I’m just happy Mann can get color into a scene and make it look nice without using tints like Soderbergh did in Traffic.

Anyway, has anyone mentioned ‘Days of Heaven’
