The CGI was a swipe at Pete. Sometimes CGI can be a great fuckin tool for movies. Why anyone would frown on advancements in film is way beyond me. I wonder did people think films were ruined when they added sound or color. Films are all about being fake anyways. Was Kill Bill ruined because it had a cartoon in there? Oh no! Fake people! ARGHHHH!
Okay Ive bent this subject way out of shape! Im awesome!

My thought on CGI is, master making great films without it first. Then when you can do that, you can use it. Right now its a tool that is being overused/used with no boundaries by so many hack filmmakers. Theres maybe one guy who I trust when it comes to using CGI and thats James Cameron. Thats cuz hes a brilliant director who knows how/when to use it.
Animation drawn by hand is a different animal than CGI. You know its animation, its another form of art. Even Pixar computer animation is better than film CGI because you can still see theres a love and soul behind it. CGI is a cheap, quick way of creating stuff thats not real for action sequences. Its usually very shallow type stuff. Until the day comes where the majority of CGI films do for me what live action films do, I’ll never be a fan of it.
Film tools are fine by me, but there should be some respect/restraint used as well. Otherwise its just becomes a bunch of ridiculous crap. Put some soul into the work before you start using CGI to impress people.
