I agree that Kill Bill is a black comedy, but I dont think Elle, The Bride and Buck dressed as hospital workers really defines black comedy. Is it ironic? yes, but darkly humorous? Not really.
I call Kill Bill a black comedy because of the complete lack of seriousness in most of the extremely violent scenes. Even though theres tons of blood squirting and people are dying, its actually funny as hell to me in that outrageous over the top way. ÂÂ
Example: The Oren Ishii/Boss Tanaka Yakuza meeting.
Its also a black comedy because of certain scenes like when Buck is telling the Truck Driver what he can/cant do to The Bride when he fucks her. Its so fucked up and disgusting and at the same time very comedic in the way he he just talks so matter of fact-like. Youre kind of half giggling/half cringing in your seat.
Note: Did you know QT considers Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction comedies? He thinks they should be in the comedy section at the video store.
