I feel the same way.

I’ll add that Saving Private Ryan was one of my favourite movies when I was younger, I used to watch it almost everyday after school when I got the DVD. And even though IB doesn’t have huge battle in large seas and wide open country spaces, I see a huge similarity between these 2 movies and this is one of the things that made me love SPR in the first place : There’s a group of soldiers who all have characteristics and their pro-skills in their domain : Sniping, Medics, etc. And reading IB script really reminded me of that, in a 10 times awesomer way because they’re QT weird characters. I could see dozens of movies with that kind of heroes struggling against evil.

I actually didnt like SPR that much. It was okay, but I know I’ll like Basterds much more because QT isnt doing the standard guys on a mission film. Hes mixing in a bunch of diff aspects. Most of those movies revolve mainly around the American guys. In this one it sounds like QT is focusing on Landa and Shosanna as well. And Id much rather see something like that then just a group of guys shooting Germans for an entire movie. QT always reinvents his genre stories and thats the main reason I want to see this. He breaks things up and gives it a diff rhythm by focusing on characters other directors would ignore. Much like when he made Pulp Fiction and he was doing his take on the 80s Joel Silver films (but instead of focusing on the cops, he focused on some hitmen and stayed with them through their day).

If I want to watch Dirty Dozen again, Ill watch it.
