I’ve posted a Golgo 13 comparison here:

Despite additional artifacts and slightly too high contrast the UK disc by Optimum is far superior to the Ronin Entertainment US release

The film is pretty good too. Far from Chiba’s and Noda’s best efforts but it’s a lot of fun and what is really succeeds in is style. Noda has managed to make Chiba the coolest assassin in the world. Callan Leung who plays the Chinese cop isn’t nearly as interesting but thankfully Etsuko Shihomi has a small supporting role. It would also seem that John Woo’s The Killer nearly ripped off one assassination scenes from this movie. And btw, Assignment Kowloon isn’t the only Golgo 13 live action adaptation. In 1973 there was a Junya Sato film starring Ken Takakura. I haven’t seen that one myself, though.
