Songs that should be in a Tarantino Film
I was at an aftershow party for The Killers the other night and they had this really querky band playing called The Good The Bad. They were amazing live, but the thing that hit me the most was how much they sounded like a Tarantino soundtrack.

Anyway, a bit later on I was chatting to their manager and he informed me that they’re in the running for a Tarantino soundtrack - apparently QT has them in his top 3 for some upcoming film soundtrack. Judging by the manager’s swagger, I’d say that it’s all BS. But I thought you might be interested anyway because most Tarantino fans will probably think that they sound great and they’re pretty well connected (so you never know how, it may happen).

Here’s their myspace page:

Take it easy
Maybe I have a limited imagination but I can’t really imagine this in a Quentin Tarantino movie. A Robert Rodriguez flick maybe, but not QT. It’s just really loud surf music.

Took a quick look through my playlist and found some I think would fit well with his style:

Imelda May - Johnny Got A Boom Boom (or Big Bad Handsome Man) Imelda May - Johnny Got A Boom Boom - YouTube

The Bees - Chicken Payback - YouTube

Del Shannon - Runaway - YouTube

Jerry Lee Lewis - She Still Comes Around

J.J. Cale - Sensitive Kind - YouTube (studio version is better)

Vanilla Fudge - You Keep Me Hangin’ On Vanilla Fudge - You Keep Me Hangin' On (Radio Edit) - YouTube

Curtis Mayfield - Freddie’s Dead Superfly Space Cowboy (Freddie's Dead [single]) - YouTube

James Brown - Papa Don’t Take No Mess - YouTube (studio version is better)

Peggy Lee - Fever Peggy Lee - Fever - YouTube

Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Are Made For Walking - YouTube

Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood - Summer Wine Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood - Summer Wine (1967) - YouTube

The Brian Setzer Orchestra - Drive Like Lightning (Crash Like Thunder) - YouTube

Edwyn Collins - A Girl Like You - YouTube

Delinquent Habits - Tres Delinquentes - YouTube (or Return of The Tres Delinquent Habits - Return of the Tres - YouTube)

Groove Armada - At The River - YouTube

Whiskeytown - What The Devil Wanted

I’m all for anything by J.J. Cale to be in a QT flim.

His version of Cocaine would be awesome (Clapton even admitted Cale’s version is better) and in my opinion the song After Midnight would totally have fit into Death Proof.

Shameless plug. My band does surf - soul - spy- spaghetti western instrumental music inspired by Quentin’s movies.

We should have a song in his next film!

I’ve always thought about this song as a Love Theme (??) ??? for a QT Film… Ok maybe not but I love the song anyway…
