just watched chungking express, was extremely pleased. fucking great film, epic asian cinema in my opinion. the first part of the movie felt like a hong kong wes anderson movie and the second part felt like a mandarin version of amelie! quirky, absorbing and unbelivably entertaining!
if the movie couldnt be better i was greeted with a intro and wrap up by qt. this was the icing on the cake. i dont know about anyone else but when i watch qt talk about a movie it feels like hes speaking from one movie enthusiast to another. i have a tradition that when i watch a mvie i like to get trivia or opinions from other people or online so this little intro and wrap up was a great bonus.
but to be honest im also quite sad. the fact of the matter is that this type of cinema and presentation seems to be no match for the popularity of such films as mama mia, the sex and the city movie and fucking transporter 3?! and so is scrapped because of funding. i dont know about yous but i really take pity on the world for their lack of culture and appreciation for true cinema.
anyway ive been intrigued and so i will want to see the rest of the offerings by the rtp offerings while i still can.
ps seb i would rather own the rtp dvd then the criterion version, what do you think?
