Well, to Winslow and Scarface and others who don’t like Lucas, I guess we just differ on that one. And lots of people love DePalma more than anything, so maybe I’m just not seeing it.
And I do agree with WinslowLeach about Hitchcock. It’s not that Hitchcock sucks. Obviously the man was visionary and elevated the state of the art of directing. But Hitch has become too much of an institution. Nobody defends Hitchcock, only his status. That someone’s reputation could be hurt because he said that Hitchcock sucks kind of makes the point.
What makes Hitchcock movies so great? Which ones really stand the test of time? Are his movies watched for appreciation or enjoyment? Are they just technically brilliant, or do his movies offer more?
Me? As of today, I prefer QT.
