Okay here’s mine not in a specific order. Or I want to explain something, I mainly tried to make the top 20 of the most influencial movies, or the most original. All of them are movies that I love, but I have to restrict myself to 2 movies max from the same director (that’s why there are only RD and PF from QT and I had to skip JB even if I love it more cause it’s less influencial than PF).
I type the movies in the same order as I found them in my dvds.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Lost in Translation
The Virgin Suicides
The Tears of the Black Tiger
The Royal Tenenbaum
The Sixth Sense
Unbreakable
Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Chungking Express
In the Mood for Love
Memento
Fargo
The Big Lebowski
I’m Not There
Garden State
Buffalo '66
Old Boy
Romeo+Juliett
American Beauty (I have hesitated with a Fincher movie, I love Seven the most but Fight Club must be his most original)
I hope I haven’t forgotten other stuff that I love…
Yeah I wanted to warn you about the fact that I haven’t watched any Coen bro’s movie except O brother (which was great), and No Country For Old Men that is could have ranked in the top 20 but well…you gotta chose at one point
I haven’t seen The Big Lebowski! Though I own it now.
And yeah, still haven’t watched a single PTA movie…that sucks
Haha lili, I’ve watched JB a few days ago. I love it…hell you’re gonna make me doubt about my list now
And Kill Bill vol1, well, I thought people would figure I liked it too but tried to save a spot for another movie…true that I like vol.2 better even if they were initially 1 movie.
And yeah, I feel really bad for not including any Scorsese. I don’t know what is up about that too.
To sum up, I guess it’s more a list of the movies I could re-watch any time, or that had a great impact on me when I first watched them.
You both have a very nice list indeed, I’m glad to see there are only a few that I haven’t seen in those.
I gotta see some PTA now, really curious about all the hype he gets on the forums
Everyone should see Office Space. American movie of the 90’s. ;D

Just read the Synopsis, sounds good!
I also read it had a very huge impact on America. It helped re-launching a brand of staples (or whatever the english word is for Agraffeuses). It's weird that it didn't cross the Atlantic Ocean though!

If you watch any of the trailers, or clips, you will buy it today. ;D
It is as big as Big Lebowski in terms of a smart comedy, with a huge fanbase.
It shows the true meaning of hating your job, with a “gangsta” rap soundtrack to give it a really fun watch.
I rank it up there with Anchorman, and the Big Lebowski as recent movies that have a huge list of memorable qoutes.

My fav Scorsese are def in the seventies, so I was’tn so sad not to include any even if he’s one my fav director. Just like Kubrick but I wouldn’t have added Eyes Wide Shut even if I love the movie. And JOB, well, I answered the question, RD and PF are clearly the most original to me even if I love JB a lot, that’s why I skipped it from my list.
I wish I could add any Jarmush but in the end, even if I every much like this director, I realised none of his movies from the 1990-2000’s would fit, even if I love Dead Man, Ghost Dog and Borken Flowers.
Oh, forgot about Jarmush too.
But why didn’t you just make a list of YOUR favorite movies, regardless of their impact on society or cinema or whatever?
Those are my fav movies but I had to skip some of them cause in some years, they wouldn’t remain to me as cult movies from this period. For me a top from the last 20 years is more a top of the best movies from these two decades, in my opinion of course, so I had to skip some movies that I thought could have been directed before, that hadn’t such an impact in the end. Not sure I’m quite clear, ahaha.
I’m gonna post mine in a while technically its the top 20 films since QT released Reservoir Dogs so thats since 1992. So stuff like ghostbusters from 1984! is out.
Shit, you’re right. Ghostbusters WAS over 20 years ago. OK, without the two Ghostbusters movies it’s:
…
15. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze
16. Le fabuleux destin d’ Amélie Poulain (Amelie)
17. Batman Begins
18. The Dark Knight
19. About Schmidt
20. Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (Spirited Away)
Ahah, I love your taste
thanks. Reservoir Dogs is my Nr. 27.

That’s not that bad. But that’s weird it’s your least fav movie from Tarantino. Is that cause you like the soundtrack the least, ahah. No, seriously, why is that your least fav movie ? That’s interesting, not much user would rank it so.
I dunno, I got the least out of it. It was raw, unrefined. Just a glimpse of the awesomeness that was yet to come. I remember once I made a thread about how RD is his worst but still a great movie and people jumped at me like crazy.
Ahah, yeah people are harsh here. Do you remember all those arguments about who’s right now or not about the value of Death Proof/Grindhouse ? Eveyrboydy thought his own opinion was the right, those who loved it yelled at those who didn’t, telling them they’re no true Tarantino fans, and those who disliked it told the others that they were just #ss-suckers.
I should re-read your post about RD but I think I already have and that you didn’t explain it quite well. Cause the argument of the first feature thing, isn’t always valuable. It’s not cause it’s his first feature, that it’s raw and not all perfect that you have to be frustrated about that awesomeness that has to come but still hasn’t. In fact, don’t you like any first feature ? I sometimes love that rawness about first feature, the fact that the director isn’t quite aware of his potential, of his style and still is pure. Do you know what I mean ?
I can’t think of any first feature that I truly like / love right now, but I’m very tired and I’m going to bed. But of my top 4 or 5 directors, all of their first movie(s) were pale in comparison to what they put out later.

I was partly joking. But seriously dude. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies were never good. You’re living in a nostalgia time warp.
Well at least you didn’t put number 3 on your list. Then I actually would hate you.

Thats a very solid list! I forgot about Head On - great film.
Very tricky to do as i confined myself to one film per director - it would be all QT and PTA otherwise.

One of my top 3 favourite films, Naked Lunch, was made in 1991. So it misses out by one year. But otherwise, it’s every film in my top ten from the nineties after and then the runners up that I can think of.
So many more I wanted to put on the list, but not enough spaces!

Nope. I’ve been here for a long time and people like me. It is you that most people hate and wish that would go away.
