Post your crowd/theater reactions here

The reason why its doing so shitty is because alot of people just dont want to sit around a theatre for three hours

Could it be that only people in your local respective areas enjoyed this movie…If so that would be a weird phenomenon

Like I said in my first post, I first saw the movie in a frickin’ different state and the crowd loved it.

Saw it again in my current residence a week later (In northern California) and had the same reactions from the crowd. Since this was a smaller theater (And playing on one screen) it only had 2 showings due to the running time. The sound system sucked compared to the one in Nevada’s, by the way. The trucker yelling at Fergie to “get out of the fuckin’ road!” was barely heard on my 2nd viewing. That got a laugh the first time around.

[/quote]He sounded like Cheech. “Get off the road, bitch!” That was some funny shit. I was amazed no one picked up Fergie, she is one hot piece of ass.

I remember my second time seeing it, right after Planet Terror ended I was thinking of yelling out to the few people in the movie theatre and telling them not to leave since its not over yet, but I figured “no, that’s rude.”, as soon as I thought it though a couple left!

At the end of the first hour in Death proof When there’s a leg flying of after the car crash, i heard someone scream HOOOLY SHIT! really loud!

Did you stay all the way through the end-credits? For those who have seen the complete cut, any other songs after “Chick Habit”?

I don’t think so. But don’t take this as anything definitive… I’m not good with songs or song titles…

I watched it opening night to a half full theater. After my initial viewing I watched it four more times over a period of several weeks. Each time the theater was almost completely empty. Also, I watched it once at a drive in. That was fun but the lot was nearly empty. There were maybe two other cars.

In my corner of the world the Thanksgiving preview also had the most groans and laughs. About 1/2 the audience left each time after Planet Terror. I found this very annoying. The beginning of Grind House seemed to drag for most people but then the ending makes up for it.

I agree both films deserved better advertising. I kind of wished we had a five minute intermission in the middle so the audience could stretch and take a pee break.

Also, most of the showings were scheduled from 4pm- midnight. Most people don’t want to sit through a three hour film that late in the day. I wish they could have had earler showings. :-X

i went the the 9 o’clock show on opening night and the crowd was really into it. nobody left after PT, at least nobody i noticed (the theater was pretty packed). i regret now that i didn’t go back and see it a second time because that was the last time it will ever be shown, though of course they’re putting the meat on the bones of Death Proof and releasing it to DVD but it’s not the same as the Grindhouse experience.

I saw it twice in theaters and at each showing people cheered and clapped at the ending of Death Proof.

the first time i saw it, the first night it came out was AMAZING. i was totally stoked to be there, i could tell everyone else was really excited to be there as well, and there were a ton of laughs, screams (i particularly remember the audience screaming with the trampoline/knife part in thanksgiving…ha…), and just overall audience enjoyment. it was definitely the best theater experience ive ever had. it was a letdown seeing it the other 3 times without a great audience like there was the first night, but the movie owns so i definitely still enjoyed it.

Unless there’s an audience track (As was done in Sin City) we’ll get to re-live it. 8)

I loved the whole experience the popcorn, the crowd, the seat selection, the company I came with, and the atmosphere. Having said that, my favorite part was the crowd’s reaction to Abernathy kicking in Stuntman Mike’s skull and then Chick Habit by April March blaring through the end credits.

yeah that was my favorite part as well…such a great memory for me

My audience reaction was like any other Grindhouse opening. Claps, cheers, woos, screams, orgasms, shouts, the usual.
