like you pointed out it isn’t very original and i don’t really know what the story is. but what is now days, i read a book that said that there’s only 36 plots and another one that said 8 and another that said 1(it was: something happens, not very informative) so i guess all you can really do is try to create great interesting characters (wich you kinda pull off), since no matter what you write (if you boil it down) someone has already wrote and seen it. i’m rambling
