what kind of camera are you using kilgore? the basketball net one is a really good demonstration of macro!

I have a Canon EOS Rebel XTi (EOS400 in Europe)- 10.2 megapixel digital SLR - this thing is the first camera that I have seen that compares to my medium format Mamiya. The macro lens is a lot of fun.

The sun in this photo is an example of “backlighting”. Backlighting confuses an automatic camera because it doesn’t know where to take the light reading from. If it adjusts the aperature according to the bright sun, the subject will be underexposed. If it adjusts the aperature according to the subject, the entire photo will be overexpossed (like this photo). Try to avoid shots where the sun is at its peak in temperature - if you look at Mr.Blonde’s photos, he takes his shots when the sun is on the rise or is setting - at is lowest temperature. Basically, light is measured by its temperature in photography - a hot sun can lead to undesireable outcomes.
