Oscar 2008 nominees

Too bad Sweeney Todd didn’t get anything.

It got Best Art direction.

Disappointments

TWBB not getting more awards. I haven’t even seen it, but I’m a bigger fan of PT Anderson than of the Coens. Ratatouille’s win was pretty much set in stone even more so than Day-Lewis’ win but Surf’s Up was the best animation of the year, more original and way funnier.

I haven’t slept in almost 24 hours so I can’t think of the opposite for “Disappointments”, therefore I’m naming this category "Appointments"

Marion Cotillard has been one of my “I wish more people knew how great she was” actresses so her win was nice. And Diablo Cody’s win was also awesome.

I’m really happy that No Country For Old Men and the Coen Brothers won the top prizes. Equally happy for Javier Bardem who gave what is now one of my all time favourite performances. Haven’t seen There Will Be Blood yet, but disappointed that Roger Deakins didn’t win for cinematography. A BIG congratulations to all the winners. 2 of my top 3 directors: Martin Scorsese one year, Joel and Ethan Coen the next, come on, QT has to follow suit!!

I’m a bit surprised that Cate Blanchett got beat out in both categories. I thought she’d pick up one at least.

I’m happy that the Coen brothers won though.

I’m very happy that the Coen got such recognition at the Oscars this year, I’m a bit surprised for Cate Blanchett too AND for Juno too…

Though BIG UP to Marion Cotillard !! ;D

Don’t know who she is but I was happy to see Marion Cotillard win.

I wish There Will Be Blood won more though.

Ahah, she’s a French actress and has mainly played in French movies. But you can have seen her in Big Fish by Burton, she played the French fiancée of the guy, and she will play one of the main roles in the next Michael Mann starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, and the next Rob Marshall (the director of Chicago).

Here she is winning her oscar :

She got so choked up when she won the BAFTA for the same category. She couldn’t even speak, she was mummbling, she was shaking, it was soo sweet. Everyone in the audience was like “awwwwww” hahaha, she was ever so thankful to the British Academy. I haven’t seen her Oscar speech yet.

I was pretty pleased with this year’s Oscars. The Coens won like three awards in the one night. I would have liked the Best Director and Best Picture to be split between There Will Be Blood and No Country though. Maybe PT Anderson for Best Director and No Country for Best Picture, but I thought it was good that the Coens got to win their first Director Oscar.

I was happy that Diablo Cody won Best Screenplay though. I don’t think Juno really deserved anything else it was nominated for, but regardless of whether Juno deserved Best Screenplay, it was nice to see Diablo win an award. I’m happy for her.

Pretty Lady

I have that movie on my computer right now, and plan to watch it before my break is over!!

She was even cuter when she won her César, which is the French oscar, or BAFTA. That girl is really cool. Typical of French brunette charme.

Her Speech at the BAFTA, first BIG award, she was so chocked indeed :

At the Césars, she was still almost crying, but almost the same speech as the BAFTA, only in French, ahah :

Her speech at the Oscar, not much new in her speech but she seems much more excited and less under emotion :

Diablo and Marion had the best speeches, they were both crying in the end. Total “Aaaaw” Moment

Diablo Cody is really cool, and really confident and articulate. It was awesome to see her so humble.

I watched the Oscars, just wasn’t familiar with her (Marion) work. She is pretty, but did anyone else felt like 30% of the Oscars camera time was on Jack Nicholson and he wasn’t even a part of the show. Just goes to show how bada$$ he is.

Everybody left the oscars pregnant, even Scorsese and Javier Bardem :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks to Jack Nicholson!
