The Passion: Historical, necessary violence told as truthfully and unflinchingly as possible, designed to bring about an emotional reaction.
Kill Bill: ‘Fun’ violence. Obviously fake and purely for entertainment.
The two cannot really be compared, and I don’t think that Mel Gibson was trying to compare.
