Ich finde halt, der Film ist super-offensichtlich auf Style/Coolness gebürstet, und sowas “zwanghaftes” mag ich an Filmen gar nicht. Hat mir u.a. auch den Spaß an SPUN verdorben, diese “uuuuh, ich hab´s ja so drauf”-Attitüde.
Der Umstand, das der Name Tarantino immer mit diesem Film verbunden wird, ist rein qualitativ betrachtet eigentlich nicht haltbar, denn dessen Werke sind imho sehr viel gelungener. Allerdings, das muss ich wohl dazu sagen, kenn ich nur die deutsche Fassung, durch deren Synchro (besonders die von Eric Roth) der Film wahrscheinlich nochmal zusätzlich verliert.
Anyway: Avary kann´s (mittlerweile) jedenfalls viel besser, wie er mit dem sehr gelungenen RULES OF ATTRACTION bewiesen hat.

"The characters we are forced to watch are incredibly stupid. Why would anyone want to watch a movie about a bunch of idiots fail miserably trying to rob a federal reserve bank, killing and cussing every other minute, that isn´t funny at all? In fact, I felt so dumb after watching it that I was tempted to pop in BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD to boost my IQ back to where it was. […] One thing we can learn from this movie is that Tarantino HAD to have done most of the writing for PULP FICTION. Avary´s direction, lazy and uninvolving, is almost as bad as the script, which was drafted in just a couple of weeks. THE RULES OF ATTRACTION, which was also written and directed by Roger Avary, is a great film. But, of course, it was adapted from the Bret Easton Ellis´ book, which leads me to believe that if Avary is going to keep making good movies, he needs major help from a co-writer or at least a great book to adapt."
