KILL BILL Oscar topic!

I don’t mean it to sound like that… I reckon its going to lay in the marketing… hopefully, the public won’t confuse this with a Matrix rip… hopefully, even if there arent great reviews, his fans, and more, will show their loyalty… I am just speculating…

yeah i also think that the average movie goer (people who aren’t in here) will confuse kill bill with pulp 2 or something, or will think its a matrix rip-off.

there isn’t enough PR going on that would explain the truths, I doubt that Miramax will market it correctly

Seb, the movie isnt even in the can yet. How do you know what Miramax is gonna do with the films marketing? Your too anti-Miramax all the time.

Theres only one scene in the teaser that looked kinda “Matrix-esque” thats the scene with Pai Mei jumping in the air. But still, its not enough where people with a brain cant understand its not The Matrix.

I think the actual final theatrical trailer for Kill Bill will be so unique and different looking, noone will get it confused with any other movies.

No Way! Now lets be realistic. This movie has no premises for oscar nods (even though this movie is going to kick ass!) I think QT will have to wait until Glorious Bastards before he gets his past due oscar.

So I’m not alone in my doubts! Speculate as we will… I bet it will get a decent opening, nothing cum spewing… it IS opening in October ) dead land? WHat does that tell us about Miramax? ALSO- do we seriosuly consider the Academy will nominate a Kung Fu film for any big categories???

as i said before, i dont think KB will win any major oscar, its not an oscars film.

it may get some for editing or sound FX or something, maybe acting.

i have a certain feeling that QT’s post-KillBill films will be oscar candidates

For the record I find the whole entertainment awards carry on rather distasteful but it can still be fun to talk about if you don’t take it seriously.

As for oscars for Kill Bill, I think some of you are being a bit pessimistic. Don’t forget that this is a Miramax film (famous for their oscar pushes) and they’ve already spent a shit load on this film (I can’t think of one of their previous films that would have cost any near as much). If this movie is at all worthwhile (and I think we all know it will be) then Miramax are going to push the hell out of it. This is becoming their Lord of the Rings.

Based on what I’ve seen so far I think nominations for cinematography, art direction and costume design are big chances right off. Things harder to tell about at the moment like sound and editing are likely to follow on from that.

In terms of the more renowned and glamourous awards it may not do so well. Screenplay would be a tough one for me to see winning, because of the type of film it is, but it wouldn’t be suprising if it got a nomination (I mean, you’ve read the thing). If Uma can maximise the potential in her role, then she SHOULD be nominated. Just consider the preparation required for this role. Likewise, if the film achieves it’s potential and connects with audiences big time, then both Quentin should be nominated for best director, and the film should be nominated for best picture. It’s just a matter of Miramax shifting people’s perceptions about what is an “oscar” film. In a way the LOTR movies have already paved that path. Although by the same token Kill Bill will have to contend with Return of the King, and the Academy may decided there’s only room for one fantasy epic in the major categories.

I don’t think this will be a big winner, but I wouldn’t be suprised to see a slew of nominations, especially in the more “technical” categories.

Blah Blah Blah.

Why the Blah Blah exactly?

This thread is just that-- holding by a thread. It kind of ridiculous to speculate if A- how the film will turn out and B- if Oscar will smell it…

Exactamundo. Hence the Blah Blah Blah
Blah Blah Blah.
Touche. I’ll have to remember that one.

hahaha… well put, then, sir… I motion we boycott this thread and turn our attentions to more important, substantial issues. For instance, will Adam Sandler really be in Glorious Bastards?

Speculate on more speculative speculates…

…but not in this thread please.

I meant that by Oscar it could be any Oscar.

Cool to see tarantino get another screenplay or Director but we should save Best Picture for WWII

As for Adam Sandler he cant act but he hasnt been given good material lately except for PTA’s PDL

when has adam sandler had any good roles? Billy Madison was kinda funny I guess… Oh happy gilmour was so funny. But he sucked in it

UH HUH… Have you seen Punchdrunk Love? Great role for Sandler. Happy GILMORE and Billy Madison are funny, light displays of Sandler’s humor.

Wow, that’s the second time CNN’s mentioned Kill Bill. The other time was on Daniel Day Lewis and Uma Thurman’s birthday. They had a little caption on the bottom of the screen that said “Kill Bill The Butcher”.

Matrix, LoTR and KB shouldn’t get Oscars in my opinion. Not best film ones anyway. It’s not they’re not good (I haven’t seen two of them yet so maybe they’re not all good) but they’re not full films. They’re all half films or third films.

Once again …that’s just my opinion.

yeah, I also think that IF they give QT the Oscar, they should NOT give it to him for Kill Bill. It’s just not the right movie for that. Exploitationfilms and Awards, that doesn’t mix.

Qt should do 40 Lashes Less one or his Guys on a mission flick and then get an oscar…

Is Quentin ever going to get around to doing a Western? If he does, I think thats what he should get the Oscar for.
