Perhaps I should’ve been more detailed my original comments about what I mean’t.  I’m not saying Uma represents asian actresses. That wasn’t my point. My point was her winning the Oscar would be a celebration of the genre itself. Not because she’s Asian or represents the genre, but because her performance put a spotlight on the genre and therfore was worthy of such a award.  ÂÂ

I doubt this very much. Most film makers in the genre DESPISE Kill Bill. Theyd would not be happy if KB were to win an Oscar. I think they hate itmostly because QT is homaging, or “ripping off” if you prefer, both Chinese and Japanese influences at the same time. Many people from Japan hate this because they feel its disgracing the Japanese movies it is homaging by adding Chinese techniqes to traditional Japanese techniques. For example, Wire Fu mixed with Samurai swordsmanship. And a Chinese American speaking bad Japanese and shit like that, and the Chinese have the same complaints but Vice Versa. Ive heard soo many complaints about Lucy Liu’s Japanese in Kill Bill. But thats stupid. Do you see Americans getting mad at Sonny Chiba’s English?? Or Jackie Chan’s? Or anyones??? They shouldnt be so turned off from such a trivial matter. And about the Wire Fu and things like that, Japanese need to notice its not just a homage to JAPANESE MOVIES, and the Chinese need to notice thats its not just a homage to CHINESE MOVIES. Theres also Italian, American, Martian, and all other kinds of shit too.
I also think theyre hatred for KB has alot to do with their hatred for EACH OTHER (Japan and China), but I wont get into that
