KILL BILL Oscar topic!

Ok buddy, take a nice deep breath and maybe a Valium or three and try to calm down. Yes I know your statement about Pulp Fiction was sarcastic, but it also was stupid because it was a bad analogy. Maybe you could have said something like “So if Pam Grier had won an Oscar for Jackie Brown, would you say it was a celebration for all the blaxploitation film stars of the 70’s?” Which actually would partly make some sense, but you can’t out of the blue compare Mia Wallace to black actresses in general and Pulp Fiction to action movies in general because Mia Wallace’s character does not take inspiration from any or all black actresses, and Pulp Fiction is in no way an action movie. But Uma Thurman did in fact perform martial arts in Kill Bill, so the statement that BlazeAlpha made at least has a little credibility to it.

And about the other actresses/actors who have performed martial arts like you said- Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, Wesley Snipes, etc. If they won an Oscar for any of those movie in which they performed martial arts, then yes, you could say that would be a celebration of the Asian Martial Art genre actors/actresses because they are the ones who first started doing martial arts in movies. How good or bad Uma’s skills were is not the point here. What is the point is that her character was partly an homage to those Asian martial arts stars and she practiced the same type of fighting that they had also practiced 30 or so years ago.
