I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t like Leonard. He’s pretty crotchety. But what makes him a miserable human being is the same thing that makes him an enteraining crime writer IMO, so I’m okay with that.

Seriously, though. Most of the best writers are pretty fucked up people. I have had respect for writers in the past and then they have said something really stupid or bizarre and I have thought, "Man, you have no fucking idea what you are talking about."
A lot of actors and just artists in general are like that. You think, “what the fuck are you doing moping around. You are filthy rich now and everybody thinks you are a master of the genre. Get over it.” Reminds me of Hugh Grant. I don’t really like him at all, but I can’t believe what I am reading when he says something like, “making movies is miserable” or something to that effect. It makes no sense…
I just got home, was out at the shopping centre. While I was there I decided to look for Black Dahlia, but no one really had any Ellroy. They never have Leonard or Burroughs either. At least the smaller bookstores that I end up looking in don’t. When I go to a bigger bookstore I have to look for it. The trailer for the film made me want to read the book. The film looks fucking awesome.
