James Ellroy on Quentin

After all’s said and done. LA Confidential is a good film and I will be seeing The Black Dahlia. Ellroy is a great writer. He just has an old school style. I guess I can see what he means. Popular culture is something that is quintessentially crime writing nowadays. I just think that Ellroy doesn’t really comprehend that, because the way he writes is like crime was written. Sure, I do think that he should keep up with things like that, being in the writing business and all, but whatever. I might even go and find a copy of The Black Dahlia before the film comes out. I never did read it.

I wonder what Ellroy thinks of Leonard? I’d be interested to know if he is just sceptical of that kind of writing in Tarantino’s films or if he finds Leonard not to his taste.
