James Bond 007

i think im gonna get into Bond pretty soon, im gonna purchase as much as i can (i saw the big Dvd Box on ebay for 70EURO, and its like 250 in stores) and don’t watch em untill wintertime, when its cold as shit and ive allready seen all my films twice, just gonna sit on the floor and watch Bond, but as LetsgotoWork says (a long ass time ago), i might skip Roger Moore’s later work, because he’s got the face, the looks, but he just stared in the worsed films, the only moore Bond flick i enjoyed was A View To a Kill, mainly because (ibviously) Mr Ronnie Walken

Umm, in which film was Bond skiing while escaping some assassin and making tricks in his way, like ski-jumping? That’s my favourite.

Yeah, my passion for James Bond stops with the last film based on an actual Ian Fleming story. Others made by oily haired writers are easy to generate:

Film starts with Bond doing something extreme, then he’s in the hideout, he gets assigned on a mission, he receives unbelieveable stuff, goes out, meets a beautiful good girl, fucks her, then finds out she’s BAAAD, then escapes, but meets a brainlsess zombie, sent by the sick, evil genius who is Bond’s target. He meets another girl, makes out with her then finds out she’s BAAAAD, way more bad than the previous girl, so he teams up with the previous girl and they both defeat the sick genius.

The Spy Who Loved Me?

the more you talk about Bond the quicker i wanna get into it, i feel like im missing out alot

I wanted too buy the box a long time ago, but they wouldn’t release it over here because there was an argument about who owned the rights to distribute all the bond.

I also would like to get in to the bond films again. Especially all the early bond films. For some reason bonds best enemy’s are all members of Spectre. What ever happend to that evil Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion organisation?

Speaking about bond, I think I read somewhere that actor Daniel Craig would be playing the new bond. Does anybody know more?

would be a terrible move, keep Brosnan, we have gotten used to him now, Piece IS Bond for me, because i grew up with him being it, they shouldnt change him unless they really really have to, i understand if hes in his 60’s or so, but Pierce is just 50-something years old, perfect age for Bond, not that i hate Daniel Craig, he was cool as shit in Road to Perdition and Layer Cake but changing Bond is a big step…dont!

Since they want to kinda start all over again with the franchise, bringing it back to the roots instead of just showing one boring over-the-top action sequence after another, i think it´s a good decision to cast someone (relatively) “unknown” for the Bond part. I don´t know if Daniel Craig is the right choice, but at least he looks interesting and i´m sure he can bring something new to the character.

I seriously hope for some down-to-earth Bond flicks in the future, cause i´m freakin tired of mediocre stuff like TOMORROW NEVER DIES. I mean, c´mon, back in the days the crowd was easy to entertain with some cool stunts, cause practically nobody else did those kind of movies. Nowadays, you got event movies coming out every week, and in terms of action and stunts, the last Bond movies couldn´t even keep step with some of those flicks. They outlived themselves; you don´t even care about the character anymore.

I really dig what de Palma did with the first 2/3 of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, and if future Bond movies will go that way, i´m happy with that.

The next Bond movie is going to be based on Casino Royale. They’re going back to square one and getting rid of all of the silly gadgets and cars and terrible, contrived plots and taking it back to Ian Flemming’s original, darker Bond.

Daniel Craig (Layer Cake) will be playing Bond. Martin Campbell, the director of Goldeneye (probably the best Bond movie in thirty five years), will be directing. And Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollary Baby) will be doing the script.

This will be pretty much the Bond film Quentin Tarantino has been pushing for years now…

only minus Quentin Tarantino, Uma Thurman, and Pierce Brosnan. :stuck_out_tongue:

Still, Campbell did an awesome job with Goldeneye, Daniel Craig was smooth as hell in Layer Cake, and Paul Haggis is one of the most respected writers in film at the moment. This is going to be a good movie.

This is some good news, I’m glad. Yet, people overexpecing something always find themselves liking the project less than they had imagined and then they diss the producers. So I am not really excited, I just hope for it to be good. I lost James Bond with the last three movies, though I loved the old Bond marathon on local TV.

Yosh, you’re right, that’s exaclty what I was thinking. Remember the last movie, where that boat on a rope hit the cliff - even crappy computergames have better graphics.

Haha I admire your avatar.

I am a huge Bond fan, my faves were always From Russia With Love and Dr No because that was when Bond was a suave spy and before the Bond franchise went gadget crazy (the gadgets always threatened to overshadow Bond as a character and the recent films have shown this).

And i like Roger Moore! And heaps of people pay out Lazenby, but i think he rocks and the main reason people didnt like him was probably partly attributed also to the fact that On Her Majesty’s Secret Service attempted to take Bond back to the more character-driven days and tone the gadgets down. But people have grown too accustomed to the gadgets and less-accustomed to seeing Bond as the spy he once was. Don’t get me wrong though, the gadgets kick arse and there isnt a Bond film i havent liked (i even liked Never Say Never despite the fact that it isnt technically a certified Bond film and was made by another company)

i would love to see them do Casino Royale properly though, i collect all the books and the Casino Royale book is awesome, it would make a cool as hell film (although there is less action and gadgets than the audience is now accustomed to and it probably wont please the mass market, only Bond fans)

Yeah, that´s another thing i´m worried about. What if the audience will not accept a “new kind” of Bond movie, and CASINO turns out as a flop? Will they continue to renew the franchise, or just think: “M´kay, if the audience wants Mr. Gadget, we´re gonna give them Mr. Gadget again”?

That’s what they’re testing. Bond has always been a product for audiences, they’re going to make the best for masses.

it was in the newspaper this morning that it ‘could’ be true

I have not read the book. but is bond’s enemy in casino royale a member of Spectre…? I would not mind an other bond movie with a Spectre enemy

I understand everyone’s worry that this movie could flop, but does it really matter? The worst thing that could happen is that the producers don’t bring back Craig, Campbell, or Haggis after Casino Royale and just go back to the usual garbage. In that event, true fans of Bond will still have this awesome, underrated little movie to add to our dvd collections.

And yes, I think the Casino owner in the book is a member of Spectre. I’m not sure though, since I haven’t read it; just reviews.

wait, to get this clear, is this a remake of Casino Royale or something diffrent?

Wasn’t Casino Royale an episode on Star Trek TNG.

Empire posted this yesterday: http://www.empireonline.co.uk/news/story.asp?NID=17224

But I read somewhere else today that Daniel Craig’s mum let it slip that her son was going to play Bond.

We’ve been promised a return to the more gritty thrillers of the Dalton (and to an extent Lazenby) eras, a more realistic spy thriller than a ‘bond’ movie.

i dont know about that, but the Casino Royal that i know is the Peter Sellers Bond flick from '67

Casino Royale (1967) - IMDb

Fucking assholes, they should thank Quentin for giving them the idea for this movie. And Craig’s gonna suck big time as Bond. The Broccolis think that

Campbell + Graig > Tarantino + Brosnan

That’s what a bunch of morons they actually are.

no. i am pretty sure they are going from the book. The original film was a joke. It didnt take itself seriously and made jokes of Bond and everything the original book really stood for. It isn’t even a Bond film! One thing that wont be bad, although i really fucking want Tarantino, is that Campbell knows how to do a Casino scene, cause Goldeneye had a cool looking modern casino scene with Bond and Xenia. But then again, its that versus the whole fact that we could have Tarantino!!
