I think you have to understand his other films. On the surface a lot of the antics of his subjects, usually the fringe groups, look stupid and immature but it’s the way Korine pays careful attention to them and how real they are. He can find beauty in trash like no one else. This film could go either way, as any experiment could but to write off a few out of context clips is ignorant, frankly.
