Frankly I do not think it deserves to be there. I like both films but neither one deserves to be ranked with the greatest films of all time. They both are a cool send up of bad film making. Bad plots, silly dialog, bad camera work, ect. It was fun to watch at the theater with other movie geeks and thats what they are both about, having a good time at the movies. Reservoir Dogs deserves its spot because it is great film making from all aspects, ranking Grindhouse above it is a fucking crime!

YEaa i agree.
i haven’t seen Grindhouse yet but everything he’s done after RD has been way better. RD is overrated both by the younger audience and QT fans. It only became a hit after PF when people were suddenly sucking up everything that said “Tarantino” written on it. Movie critics were not too hot for RD either.
I seen reservoir dogs way before i seen fiction and i still liked it better and knew it was my favorite movie.

RD, overrated? ARe you on crack? Reservoir DOgs is his second best film, arguably his best, and you think it’s overrated? Who cares if the critics didn’t like it, you shouldn’t base your opinion on that. People watched RD after seeing Pulp because they liked QT, that isn’t a bad thing. RD is nowhere near overrated.
I don’t understand. Explain yourself.

theres not much to explain. i just think young movie fans and QT fans tend to overrate it. “dude, only #64 in the IMDB Top 250?!? It should be in the TOP 10!!” . No it should not be. It’s not one of the best movies ever, it’s a nice little exercise in style, that’s all, it hardly deserves to be in the Top 100. You watch it and you think “Wow, the guy who made this could do an awesome movie if he takes the time and fleshes out a cool script” And guess what, he did, and we got 4 masterpieces after RD.
I am not basing my opinion on critics, I’m just saying most critics would agree with me - RD: good, PF: awesome.
Yeah critics would agree with but so what? Ebert didn’t like RD because there wastoo much talking, it didn’t show the heist yadda yadda. RD is just as good as PF. But I wouldn’t put RD in the all time top ten, no but it is certainly pretty fucking good. RD is NOT overrated, it’s underrated(by critics) if anything. Plus, IMO directors can only have one masterpiece and QT’s is Jackie Brown, but that’s a different story. RD has great dialog, direction, cinematography, etc. Nothing to complain about.
Yeah dont listen to critics. When the wild bunch came out critics hated it except Ebert who stood up for the film.

Are you out of your mind RD is a great script some of the greatest dialog and originality ever, seriously who has ever made a heist movie not showing the heist and just showing the aftermath and planning of the heist its extremely original, and lets you use your mind in the film alot, great acting great cinematography great scenes great characters great story telling technique great dialog great direction and i can just keep going on and on what is there not to like about it. and i rarely listen to eberts opinions although i watch his show alot.
