There are those of us true film fans who like a movie for its artistic true merits and not simply because we have some childish
fascination with the director. (for some its almost a psychotic obsession with another human being they will never meet)
While i am a huge fan of jackie chan who has co-written, directed and starred in many of him movies, there are several joints he has produced i simply dont like.
I dont care how much of a jackie chan fan i am, it doesnt mean that i am blind to his faults or flops (and he has quite a few)
It is stupid and out right moronic for some one to make a shallow statement like "i am a fan of tarantino movies whether they make 8 million or 100 million"
That is the point i have been trying to drive home. It does not mean that because you are fan of Scorcese, michael mann or whatever director that you should become some drooling idiot who thinks that every time one of these guys makes a movie that its some form of high art only you seem to get.
The truth of the matter is that Tarantino made a shallow base movie that had/has no resonance with most and is a disaster artistically as far as movies are concerned. The man simply has run out of ideas and his dialogue is painfully bad without his rarely mentioned pulp fiction side kick Avary.
Grindhouse was both a financial and artistic disaster.
Tarantino would do well to start tackling scripts written by others and forget about trying to resurrect a one time fluke that was pupl fiction because it will simply never happen again.
The way some of you go on and on about box office numbers its as though truly artistic movies dont make it out of the studios any more.
Truth of the matter is, infact they do. Last i checked, even the american movie awards are perenially recognizing non block buster movies…(please dont make the shallow attempt of mentioning one or two blockbusters that may have snagged an award or two because that still pales in comparison to the larger numbers of smaller films that normally sweep our awards.)

Shallow to YOU. Its not shallow to me at all. QT has a fanbase who love his movies. What are you gonna do? Be angry about that too?! Tarantino has been a genre director from the beginning. Not everyone gets his films and thats completely okay. It doesnt make it bad. If Avary was so damn crucial to QTs filmmaking, why doesnt he use his own genius and write/direct more films? I think its because he was riding QTs coattails the entire time and isnt anywhere near as good as QT is.
