I thought the dialogue I posted was brilliant. I said “genius” not because I thought it was genius in the highest sense of the word, but genius as in “it was really good”, it was an exageration on my part. The word is paraded around so often, I just joined in.

Why I don’t talk about Planet Terror :
- It hasn’t even got a release date in the UK
- There is no Grindhouse in the UK, they are released seperately
- It’s not a Tarantino film
Also, this thread addresses Death Proof, not Planet Terror.
The argument you bring forward in that post is a bit silly. You can use that for practically any film out there. Every film has it’s lovers and haters. Some people love Scorsese’s films, some people hate them. Obviously, the side you are on, is the side you will side with and thus defend to the death. You will think you are right, and the opposing team will think they are right.
At this moment, I can give you (and have given you) so many reasons why I love this film. There is no way you can even come close to that number with your negative points.
I know that those who loved QT’s previous four films, have loved DP. Those who expected action instead of dialogue, haven’t. It really is that simple.

In my Hometown (in Germany) the film ruled the audience. I watched it right before the Simpsons Film and it worked out better!
The biggest problem of the film was the bad promo in europe. I’ve seen 2 month ago 2 tv-trailers. After that Death Proof never was mentioned in Germany again. The first real press releases started one day after the film release.
Another problem ist the Simpsons Film (Germany’s painted yellow right now 
), and that the Big Blockbuster (e.g. DH 4.0) totally flopped before.
For these circumstances Death Proof is somehow pretty succesful in Germany.
