Clockwork Orange or not?
the movie introduces you to the characters and gives you a sort of image to go by when reading the book.
I think that’s the problem with reading the book second, actually. The whole point of a book is that you make it up yourself. The whole book/film which one first? thing is difficult though

it was violant for its time,

but I think you wont be too shocked of its violence, youve problaly seen worse.
You was right !

I saw it…it’s a GREAT movie !

Does anybody know what the movie’s title means? I’ve always wondered this.

thats great, what did you think of the violance?

the title comes from an Cockney expression, “as queer as a clockwork orange,” meaning very strange or unusual.

The controversial film’s title and other names in the film have meaning. The title alludes to:

a clockwork (mechanical, artificial, robotic) human being (orange - similar to orang-utan, a hairy ape-like creature), and

the Cockney phrase from East London, “as queer as a clockwork orange” - indicating something bizarre internally, but appearing natural, human, and normal on the surface

I have never heard of that expression. Are you sure that’s what it’s about? Wierd

filmsite.org says so

That’s some interesting trivia right there.

Visually the violence is tolerable… i had not problem with it ! !

I wanted to ask the same question speaking of the title. I understand now.

Anyway, wonderful movie !

I love this movie. Eyes Wide Shut and Full Metal Jacket are kick ass too. Fucked up but it’s all good.

Yeah A clockwork Orange is real 'orror show! I’m sorry guys, i couldn’t resist

i just thought about it and realized that i know a kid just like alex, and hes russian. Hes goin to court for beating up some kid with a bunch of his friends.

Stanley Kubrick was a megalomaniac…but goddamn could he make a movie! Clockwork Orange is like, passe. It’s the hip thing to be down with. It’s a groovy flick. If you want to see Kubrick’s genius, check out Dr. Strangelove.

Check out our topic abour Kubrick:

The use of music in Clockwork Orange is what makes it so damn dramatic and distruning. THis is Kubrick’s best film, right alongside Full Metal Jacket and The Shining. It’s also one of my favorite movies ever!

Females opinion:

I have read most of Stephen King’s books, but not The Shining for some reason. Anywa, you have to watch the film, it’s one of my favourites. A Clockwork Orange is one of those films you have to watch before you die. It’s like Reservoir Dogs and FDTD in the sense that the characters are ‘evil’ but you feel a lot of empathy for them-

Watch them both and make your own mind up!

The most thought provoking film of all time. I still regard it as one of Kubrick’s best films. For those who have seen the film; what would you say the crime that Alex indulges in represents? I would say, self-expression or proof of free will. And the ‘therapy’ would most likely represent the taking away of free will… it’s almost like, a clash of different parties; democratic and almost, corrupt communist.
