Afro Samurai is a series but its the coolest show on TV ever! Anyone who’s watched it would agree with me… Im surprised that none of the forum members heard about it! I once started a topic on this show but no one replied! Its an anime Manga style starring Samuel Jackson (voice) about an African American Samurai called Afro searching for his dad’s killer to avenge his death! Its a mix between Blaxploitation and Samurai slasher flicks! The show is filled with blood, swords and nudity! The main character always smokes a joint before the start of each fight! lol… The soundtrack is done by RZA! I bet Tarantino is a big fan of the show too! If anyone is interested in checking it out it airs on Spike TV every Thursday…

A Clockworks Orange falls under the cinema of cool category in my opinion…

Cool is very subjective. I can have a weird sense of cool sometimes.
But then there are films that are just cool from everyone’s point of view. The directors who make “Cool” films are the ones, in my opinion, that don’t try too hard. It just flows naturally. Kitano, Tarantino, Jarmusch, all make cool films that are usually pretty subtle. They are all cool guys who can’t help but make cool films.
Plus, “cool” is different over cultures. What the Japanese think is cool is usually different to what the Americans think is cool. (Speaking in terms of General Public, I for one get the Japanese sense of cool very well) Even if they are usually pretty subtle differences.
To add with Thief just about every other Mann film except Ali.
Mann is overrated. In fact I think he sucks pretty much. Hes def not on my Cinema of Cool list.

Mann is definitely not overrated. Most, if not all, of his his films are good or great (with the exception of the Keep). Heat, Collateral, Thief, Miami Vice (yes, I said it), Last of the Mohicans, Manhunter were all great.
The only ones I like are Heat and Collateral. The rest arent that great. Miami Vice was a total piece of shit.
Mann is one of those directors thats def overrated to me. I dont think hes that good at all. Ive seen all his films btw.
The Insider is a masterpiece. It does not belong in any cinema of cool list, but it’s a great movie. I think it’s Mann’s greatest movie (and I don’t find him overrated at all).
Insider = blah. I’m just not a Mann fan. No offense to you guys. We all like what we like and Da Mann dont do it for me.

I forgot about the Insider, yeah I wouldn’t put it in the cinema of cool category.
Miami Vice was pretty good. Better than that cliché bag Collateral.
Miami Vice should never have been made. It was pointless.
