I’m glad Christopher won but I was really hoping Eli would win the award

I heard there was talk about about that, but something to do with his screen time not being long enough for a Best Actor award. In fact they were going to open up a new category for Best Supporting Actor just so they could honour him… but they decided in the end there’s always such category at the Oscars and felt it was best to hold out in case they jinxed him.
Congrats to Waltz! I’m VERY happy that there is a character that outshone any other at Cannes in QT’s film!
Just to get me a little more excited, can someone answer yes or no to this question:
Does Landa have a better speaking scene in IB than Coccotti does in TR? If not does it rival it?

Here Here. Maybe QT will win an Oscar for Best Film or Best Director since he lost at Cannes to…whatever the film was that Ill probably never even watch.

I just can’t wait to see this film.

His first scene is a lot like the Coccotti scene, except it’s a lot more one sided. The farmer mostly answers questions. Obviously I haven’t seen the scene but I’ve read it an I’d say it’s probably better. But I don’t know, that Coccotti scene was legendary lol
Dialogue wise…i can’t say with full confidence that it’s better. That scene in True Romance is pretty much perfect, Hopper x Walken + dialogue x delivery + that music x editing = perfect scene.
We’ll have to wait and see the film to really compare the two.

Just looking at the two scripts (got 'em both) the scene in Inglourious Basterds is the better written of the two. And longer. Just my pinion.

Yeah, I’d say it’s more Good, Bad & Ugly than True Romance…the way it’s set up anyway. Except a lot longer.

I agree with you totally except for the opera music part. For some reason I just thought it didn’t fit scene. I mean imagine if there was NO music at all. I think it would have been much more vindictive on the part of Coccotti. I like for the music to INSTANTLY “fit” or gradually sneak up on you and elevate what you see on the screen. QT is obviously a master at that, as is Scorsese.

They did it for Sam Jackson for Jungle Fever , I don’t see why they wouldn’t for Eli. But Eli for best supporting actor? That’d have been amazing to see.
Where was this pic taken ? DId they mention it on gettyimages ? Cause Tarantino wasn’t in Cannes and they all the three of them look like dressed for the ceremony…

So he left before the awards? Funny, he was supposed to leave before the awards in '94 but it got suggested he wait to go to the awards. Maybe he thought the same would happen.
They all usually leave before the ending ceremony. They only stay or come back if they’re suggested to wait, which means they know they’re gonna have something.
