Bette Davis

Saw these in the afternoon, since they played Marked Woman and Dark Victory - very great films that I already own, so I saw these two instead, which arrived today.

DEAD RINGER

Paul Henreid directs movies?! Yeah he does, and he’s damn good. It’s the 1960s, while many were making bullshit propaganda movies on vietnam and politics, Paul was making awesome thrillers with not one, but TWO fucking Bette Davis’s’s’s’!!! Edith and Margaret are the twin sisters, and Edith kills and usurps the place of her rich sister, Margaret and it all crumbles when Margaret’s boyfriend discovers what Edith has done. But then that asshole gets chewed up by a giant dog and more crazy things happen. Really! See it, Paul knows how to use a legendary actress! Typical of Bette to not even be nominated! It angers me, she was so great!

Double The Bette! Double The Fun!

In This our Life

John Huston directs Olivia De Havilland and Miss Bette Davis. It’s a good story, not a great story, just good. Funny thing is how I thought Olivia stole the film from Bette Davis - I should remember their character names but for some reason I can’t! I hate it when that happens! Anywho Bette runs over a woman and a little girl, the little girl dies and the mother sustains critical injuries. She blames the accident on a colored man and then they investigate. I really love Olivia, she’s still alive and estranged from Joan Fontaine! Someone should make a movie with both of them, they need to reunite, they can’t die like that - being sisters and all - so sad. I ordered The Heiress by William Wyler - I know it’s going to be great!

Saw/Seeing on TCM: Watch On The Rhine, Deception, and The Man Who Came To Dinner today. Never saw them before. I wish they played Jimmy The Gent! WTF, the film is not even on fucking VHS!

Oh, which brings me to another subject. When is there going to be a decent copy of The African Queen and fucking Wuthering Heights (1939, William Wyler)! What is this! No DVD for it at all! MADNESS!!! >:( >:(
