Best of QT Film Fest coverage

I didn’t drive all the way from L.A. to pussy out now!

Besides, knowing I’m staying the night at the Alamo saves me a hotel room!

Tonight is going to be awesome.

"And back then, I didn’t have a car. So I had to take the fucking bus, alright? Which, in any other state would be alright… but in LA… IT SUCKS. Their bus system is all fucked up, and if I didn’t catch the 11:03 bus just right, I’d be fucking stuck in the ghetto all night. But you know what? It was all worth it to see this movie."

hahaha very nice, i’m dying to see Rolling Thunder myself, heard great things about it

me too! i really really wanna see this film!!! :’( GRRRAAAAAAHH!!

he aint kiddin - the bus in L.A. is SUPER fucked up

rolling thunder & vanishing point were a kick ASS back to back slam!

With a couple more films to go on Sunday, this is my top listing of the films in order of which I like the most:

  1. Wipeout (Il Boss)
  2. Vanishing Point
  3. The Muthers
  4. The Outfit
  5. Legend of the Wolf Woman
  6. Rolling Thunder
  7. Twisted Nerve
  8. Billy Jack
  9. Hollywood Man
  10. Snake in the Monkey’s Shadow
  11. Kiss the Girls and Make them Die
  12. The Savage Seven
  13. The Blood splattered Bride
  14. Brotherhood of Death
  15. Police Women
  16. Don’t go in the House
  17. Hell night
  18. The Dion Brothers

Man-! That horror marathon wore me out. Started shortly after 8 PM, and we walked out into sunlight at 9:15 AM - Good Morning, Austin! Took a short nap in my car and now I’m back in the Austin Public Library writing out a bloody scene of my new script (wonder why I’m in the mood?)

Wait… Dion Brothers is last or am I reading it backwards?

Yup as I remember the experience, I don’t really get the humour in that Dion Brother movie. Though I don’t find it bad cause there’s a few good scenes in it, like the black guy who wants his chicken. The forced southern american accent and the main actors just wore my interest meter out so I find all the other movies cooler.

Like i said before…goddamn texans! You’re too lucky.

Ok here’s my updated list with the last two awesome movies from today:

***** Total masterpiece:

  1. Wipeout (Il Boss)
  2. Vanishing Point
  3. Pretty Maids all in a row
  4. The Muthers
  5. The Outfit

    **** Kick-ass awesome:
  6. Girl from Starship Venus
  7. Legend of the Wolf Woman
  8. Rolling Thunder

    *** Awesome:
  9. Kiss the Girls and Make them Die
  10. Twisted Nerve
  11. Billy Jack
  12. Hollywood Man
  13. Snake in the Monkey’s Shadow
  14. The Savage Seven

    ** Worth watching:
  15. Police Women
  16. The Blood splattered Bride
  17. Brotherhood of Death
  18. Don’t go in the House
  19. Hell night
  20. The Dion Brothers

Derfinately this QT Fest was worth the trip for me from Denmark, I’d say we were very lucky to see those films during this week, it is exactly the kind of kick-ass inspirational experience, and I appreciate Quentin Tarantino’s world class energy in introducing each film. His introductions were between 5 to about 25 minutes long for each movie, all of the introductions were filmed by a company hired by the Austin Film Society. I think that there is a chance that they will release the whole footage on the internet. I at least tried to talk several of the AFS staff and organizers into checking out if they can put on the internet the complete series of filmed QT introductions. So let’s check back with AFS next week, or bit later about how they will be doing with releasing the recordings.

Too bad I wasn’t allowed to film anything this time to put on http://qtfest.com. I imagine QT could franchise out the concept, get the intros done in Austin or other place, and the prints could be shipped around, this way QT could be programming the screenings for festivals not only in Austin but all around the world! For example I am sure Paris, London, Berlin and Shanghai would be great places for QT to screen his prints in some of the cool cinemas there, during some specially arranged week-long all-night QT film marathons. Until some time in 1 or 2 years when all the films will be available in high definition digitalizations over the internet, and so people will not need the physical 35/16mm prints to experience the awesome films simultaneously around the world at public or private digital high definition theaters.

Ok… the horrorthon coverage is still forthcoming, but here’s the recap of last night. Sorry for the overly-long intro to Pretty Maids… QT’s spiel was so great that I didn’t want to cut anything.

Those were funny. He’s a naturally easy going guy. Who was he shouting out to at the back about trailers. He said something about “Last shout out to you baby”
