Do you only recommended the book or also this V1 - V6 books too?

The novel was there 1st, I belive the manga came from after the movie. So I recommend the novel.

yeah, i think that the mangas are based more on the movie plot than the book, and as i’ve already stated, they are different (the book’s better)

Every one said, that BR II isn´t that good. But should I buy it?

BR was very cool. But BR 2 is too different. It doesnt make any sense

It makes no sense cuz it was not that good (script, idea, actor) from the beginning or is the problem that the director Kinji Fukasaku died during the shooting and his son continued?

But do you think it is worth to buy it.

I spent a lot of money for buying Miike movies and hm not pretty sure to gibe money away for BR II… ???

I have yet to see BR2, though I think the BR2 dvd crashed in price probably cause it didn’t take off.

Battle Royale 2 is finally on www.asiancult.com,

it’s a double disc region 0 DVD, the only problem is that it’s $29.95.

so much for a crash in price :-/

I might pick a single disc R0 from ebay up. I heard BR2 was shitty though.

i heard that too. a friend of mine speaks japanese and went to japan last summer for vacation, while he was there he saw it in theater. he said it was basically a pointless pro-terrorism movie. i’m still curious about it, though. :-/

I’ve only seen the region 3 version of BR2 and that was going real cheap for a new release.

About the mangas that were discussed a while back:

I have Volumes 1-6, although there are still 4-6 more coming out to finish the series.  These mangas are amazing though, they’re made by Koushun Takami, the author of the book, and Masayuki Taguchi, this extremely impressive illustrator.  The artwork is the best I’ve seen in a manga, although the dialogue is sometimes awkward, but overall they are definately worth checking out.  Because there are 10-12 volumes, they can go into a lot more character development and side-stories, and most of these end up really enhancing the story.  Also, the kills are a lot more graphic than those in the movie.  Definately worth checking out for any fans of Battle Royale, especcially those who read the book and were disappointed by the movie.

Are these Mangas the same ones that they have at the bookstores here, or are they more graphic in Japan?

They’re the same ones.  Thankfully they don’t censor books like they do movies.  And some of these mangas are really pornographic too.  They go into a detailed side-story following Mitsuko Souma and her seductive treachery.

Damn, I think i’ve only seen like the first two episodes in stores. Maybe you can order them.

If you’ve got a thing for female ejaculation then skip straight to Volume 3, although I’d recommend reading all of them because they’re all sooo good.

It was alright, the violence was alot more wasr like, and the plot was kind of lacking, and I don’t think its worth 30 $$.

It’s still an alright movie though.

I just closed a double topic about BR.

But I remember Alex started one where he asked a question about the ending, I think he said that in his version it ended with the guys at the island. I saw the “Special Edition” tonight, and the very end of the movie showed Nanahara (sp) and his girlfriend on the run from the authorities, with the final frame saying “run” in Japanese. After that, there were 3 “Requiems”, which were just the flashbacks that the students had with words. Now, I don’t know what version most people here saw, but does anyone know what the difference between the Special Edition and normal one is?

Also, anybody who’s curious should definetly check this movie out. Wow. What an amazing film. It kept my attention and stuck with me through the entire movie. Battle Royale is a huge adrenaline rush and it’s well worth your money.

yea Buono, that’s the version I’ve got.  I bet it was awesome on the big screen and i would have been there if it wasn’t for the gayness of exams.  i don’t think there is one dull point in the movie and I loved the ending (before the requiems).  I agree, definately worth the money.

The original version doesn’t have:

-None of the basketball stuff. ÂÂ

-Mitsuko’s childhood flashback. ÂÂ

-3 requiems

There was one addition that the director’s cut had that I liked though. It was when they would do a re-cap of which students got killed by showing their faces as Kitano read them on the speaker. For instance, the camera had a closeup of those 2 guys that got castrated by Mistuko. The original version had that as a long shot and not making it clear who those guys were. And I think Mimura’s death was re-shot.

What exactly was the point of the requiems? They didn’t really seem to add anything on to the film.

I love that crazy guy who hunts the students down for fun. If anyone knows where I can get a pic of him when his eyes turn white, I would be much obliged.
