Actors Out of Inglorious Bastards
so you’re hoping QT will stop being QT? good luck on that. you can’t take the man’s passion for movies he loves away…
Ohh, but that’s not what I’m on about. Look at Jackie Brown, that was an homage to exploitation movies. There’s a difference between homaging and being “just as good them” and “just what they are”.
…even his CSI episode was full of homage… and that was probably one of the best episodes the series has ever seen.
Damn right it was. Maybe it is that he needs some restrictions then (JB - Elmore Leonard, CSI - contraints or whatever) on his over self-indulgence and self awareness then.

I can’t really see the “over self-indulgence”

QT has put aspects of exploitation cinema in all his movies from Dogs on (if you dont believe me watch his Pulp Fiction Charlie Rose interview and you can hear him say so). Kill Bill and Death Proof were of course more purely exploitation based than his previous films, but I highly doubt hes going to keep making purely Grindhouse style films every movie he makes. And he will definitely keep putting exploitation ideas and themes into all his movies until he retires. Arthouse and Grindhouse are what QTs films are based on at their core.

Kinick you seem to generalize movies into all bad or all good. Do you honestly think ALL exploitation films are bad? Movies are movies, theres good and bad ones in every facet of the artform. Theres tons of A list studio crap too. I mean, lets be honest. To think otherwise is just ignorant. And just because YOU think something is crap doesnt mean everyone else does.

If you can just chill out on the bashing of QT and the movie until you actually see it, it would save us alot of arguments in here.

I def wouldnt say one word to you, if I thought you were being fair and straight up here.

I don’t mean this in a bad way, but maybe you’re too close to QT. Do you automatically like everything of his you see? Do you go in loving it no matter what or do you go in expecting him deliver because it’s QT? Would you even dare to set yourself up to be disappointed by a movie of his, much less “one he’s been planning his whole life”?

Are Kinick and Yasmin the same person?

What makes you think that?
What makes you think that?
Uhh, I feel the same way about both of you.

So you come to that conclusion because someone agrees with this statement?
This is what I fear. The days of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction may very well indeed be long gone, but I was hoping they wouldn’t be totally lost on Inglorious Bastards. I also feel his theory on “Quentin’s Universes” are long gone too or bear no relevance today. It nows seems like everything he does is in the movie, movie universe. Of course Death Proof supposedly takes place in the realer than real world like Dogs, Pulp etc. but to me it doesn’t feel like that. To me Dogs and Fiction and REAL movies. Kill Bill just feels like a movie within a movie - Kill Bill is basically Fox Force Five expanded into a feature-length blockbuster - and Death Proof feels like something the characters in Kill Bill would go and see. I just don’t want IB to follow in the same trend. I think today that’s what it’s all about - if you truly love QT and everything he does, then you’ll love this movie; you’ll just absorb all the QT self-indulgence and references. Point in fact, I’m the opposite - I just want him to make a REAL movie again and get away from this exploitation crap…because (like it or not) he’s becoming a hack with only one voice.
C’moooon… And I know there’s more than that that agree with a lot of that! But not you of cousre. You’ll love whatever you’re given. ; )

The great line in there is “I want him to make a REAL movie again”. Thats classic.

Interviewer: Mr Tarantino, when do you plan to make another REAL film?

QT: A REAL film?

Interviewer: Yeah you know, without the exploitation crap.

QT (spits on interviewer)

Pete cheers

Hahahahahahaha, that was hilarious ;D

I heard QT is gonna remake Terms of Endearment after this exploitation crap. That should be awesome.

Nope. I just think you are both only here to bitch and complain most of the time, and it irritates me. If you two aren’t the same person, then you should definitely become lovers.

Isn’t the notion that opposites attract? You should get with Yasmin ;D :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re going wayyy off topic here.

lol I just had a vision of Shirley Maclaine and Debra Winger going at each other with a machete and samurai sword hahaha

Simply awesome!

But really thats why Im a QT fan because even with films like Kill Bill and Death Proof he brings a poetic quality to them. DP was sort of unsatisfying in certain ways, whereas Kill Bill was like a delicious Chinese food buffet.

Yeah, but then there’s that “birds of a feather” notion. Besides, I would probably get on pretty well with both those guys in real life. People are nicer in person, when they don’t have the luxury of reading, and re-reading, and editing and re-editing what they are saying.

red apple cigarettes in theirs mouths, while a worn out copy of cheech and chong plays in the background, right?

to answer your question, kinick: there’s stuff that i dont like, and stuff that i like. with either, i have my opinion about it. what i dont do is bitch about a film that isn’t even made yet based upon a fistful of casting decisions and a script that’s gonna turn out god knows how awesome.
