2009 - Track Your Films

Vicky Christina Barcelona 8/10 - Classic Woody Allen, excellent performances from Javier Bardem, Rebecca Hall and especially Penelope Cruz.

Doubt - Rewatched - 9/10 - Probably the best acted film this year. How slumdog won the ensemble SAG I’ll never know.

Jackie Brown - Rewatched - 9/10 nuff said

Insomnia - 7/10 - not bad.

These are movies I’ve just watched for the first time…

Taxi Driver 6/10- it was kind of a slow paced movie, that doesn’t get that much exciting to the very end. Also, the music annoyed me.

A Clockwork Orange 7/10- I’m still wondering what the fuck I just watched…

Dirty Harry 10/10- i loved this movie for some reason, I couldn’t stop watching it even when I had to take a huge crap! I plan on buying the whole Dirty Harry boxset in the near future.

Shuter 4/10- lame horror movie…

My Bloody Valentine 3-D 5/10- I didn’t think it was that bad, and I defiently wasn’t seeing the twist ending.

Tekkonkinkreet - 9/10 Awesomeness.
[/quote]

I loved that movie! I’ve been looking for the manga’s but I can’t find them locally, and I hate ordering online.

i’m glad to here it’s good. i was reluctant to watch it because Koji Morimoto was supposed to direct it for a long time. since the man is a genius (he made noise-man sound insect, the first segment of Memories, Eternal Family, Extra…) i didn’t want to see a tekkon kinkreet film without morimoto…

Defiance - a couple of good scenes but a little bit boring… when will i get to see a great WW2 movie again?

A gun for a cop - lame italian crime film

Son of the black eagle - italian adventure w/ Franco Ressel as the bad guy and a super young, super hot Edwige Fenech. co-written by umberto Lenzi.

The Cat o’ Nine Tails - rewatch. not as good as i remembered, but still nice, especially the first 15 minutes

Of time and the city - documentary about Liverpool but i’m not a terence davies fan

Superbad - rewatch

My Name is BRUCE - Bruce Campbell - 10/10 after 8 bong hits!!! Fuckin Bruce Campbell! Yeah!!!

FUCK YEAH! Bruce Campbell!!!

Breakdown - 8/10

I thought Kurt Russell was great as usual and the film turned out to be a lot better than I was expecting.

Body Of Lies - 9/10

An excellent thriller from Ridley Scott which I liked even more in 2nd viewing.

Burn After Reading - 9/10

I thought this film was absolutely hilarious with great performances from Malkovich, Pitt and Clooney.

Lakeview Terrace - 7/10

The only thing I liked about this film really was Samuel L. Jacksons performance but apart from that the film was pretty average.

Magnolia 9/10

Boogie Nights 10/10

Casino 7/10

Burn After Reading 8/10

Recently watched;

Burn After Reading, seen it for the third time, it only gets better, 10/10

Cool World, funky cartoon/live action movie with a young Brad Pitt, a sexy Kim Basinger and a badass Gabriel Byrne, 7/10

You Kill Me, Ben Kingsley is one of my favorite actors, even in mediocre films like this one he’s awesome, 7/10

Terror’s Advocate, scary shit and very interesting to see the life of a man who’s career was built around defending terrorists, dictators and so on. 8/10

Apocalypse Now, one of the best anti-war films, the final scenes with Marlon Brando give me shivers every time, 9/10

Army of Darkness, hehe Bruce Campbell lol, it was good and campy fun 7/10

Rachel Getting Married, good drama, Anne Hathaway deserves the nom but not the win, Rachel DeWitt was snubbed of a Supporting Actress nom, the ending was a bit of a letdown since it feels like no one learns anything. 7/10

Role Models - well… ::slight_smile:

Morse - very cool vampire film, very original and surprising. loved it.

l’amerique insolite - french documentary about the states, shot in 1960, amazing photography.

Darkman - rewatch. still good

The Mummy (hammer) - rewatch 8)

Trading places - rewatch. on the big screen for the first time!

Beverly Hills cop 3 - believe it or not, i thought it was very fun and entertaining…

We want our mummy - 3 stooges ;D

Three little bears - 3 stooges, again!

Battle of El alamein - rewatch. great war film by giorgio feroni.

The International 6,5/10 Interesting and quite good, not as satisfying as it should be.

The Incredible Hulk 6,5/10 Fun, but not nearly as great as the 2003 Ang Lee movie. Quite forgettable even.

Chaiya (aka Muay Thai Chaiya) 1,5/10 VERY BAD new Thai martial arts movie. Awful. Turned it off before the finale.

the family jewels - (rewatch) jerry lewis, saturday morning classic ;D

Pardon my scotch - 3 stooges

how high is up - 3 stooges again

Django, prepare your coffin - rewatch, great western, love the story

Under Siege is kewl. Does Taken have anything on Death Wish? Is it an old-school revenge movie?

I think Taken is slightly better than Death Wish and the storyline is similar to Commando in a way as Liam Neesons character will basically do anything to get his daughter back. There are some great action and fight scenes and Neeson is excellent so I would definitely recommend this.

oh thanks! still glorious bastard is the coolest status imo…

the oblong box (rewatch)

scream and scream again (rewatch) - 2 gordon hessler films. fun and wild English horror from the early 70s

the hudsucker proxy - rewatch. i hadn’t seen that one since its release, and it’s fantastic, lots of fun.

Friday the 13th remake - not as fun as the originals

The Private life of Sherlock Holmes - one of wilder’s best, amazingly good

Password: Kill Agent Gordon (rewatch) average euro spy with Rosalba Neri

Don’t torture a duckling (rewatch) - my favorite lucio fulci with City of the living dead, as good as a giallo can get

The Visitor - 7/10 - Some may disagree with me, but I thought the handling of the subject matter was very gentle and realistic. Richard Jenkins was great and the character Tarek was very sexy. ;D

RocknRolla - 5/10 - I think Guy Ritchie’s movies are getting to convoluted for their own good. Handsome Bob was the only character I really liked, because he was one of the few I could relate to at all. Ritchie’s ultra-cool take on violence is even a bit much in this, one scene in particular (outside the club) comes to mind.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - 8/10 - I really enjoyed this. I especially liked the transition of perspective between the first and second half of the movie.
