Yep. It is official. Tarantino has convinced Miramax to finally re-release Hero in its unedited version. It will be in theaters around New York and LA this June.
lets just hope he does that for Shaolin Soccer, too.

I had to endure this MiramAxed version of Hero in theaters, it was aweful boring because of the changed scene order and all… I am looking forward to seing the Original Cut

at least its something, and it shows how much influence Tarantino has. after all, miramax only agreed under the condition that his name would stand on the project...
miramax are so dumb, they think only his name can earn money and not the great movie (which was aweful in its MiramAxed edion)

MiramAxe has already forced Zhang Yimou to chop off about 20 minutes from his film to create a 98 minute version, the only version being shown on the big screen around the world.

I own the HKL edition of Iron Monkey. You can get it cheap from www.cd-wow.com or www.hongkonglegends.co.uk or maybe www.hkflix.com
But there's a new 2-Disc edtition coming out from HKL soon, so if you want even more quality and extras, wait for that one

what makes me smile is it’s pg-13 and they didn’t cut it, why would they need to cut a pg-13 sword movie, make it pg, what’s the difference, make the movie terrible and down it one on the rating’s? stupid mirimaxe
I think one scene would’ve gotten an R, but with their clout, they can easily buy a PG 13. Ironically, the less edited Iron Monkey did better theatrically than their most recent hacked dubs. But Weinstein cares more about his ego than the bottom line.
