Books about Tarantino (General talk)

They are essential for any true fan: books.

There is a number of books out there that were written by people that did a lot of research on tarantino.

below, you’ll find a link where I have put all the available books together.

The one I can recommend the most, is the one by Jamie Bernard. Really amazing.

Which books have you read? do you need a recommendation? have questions? post here

Here’s the official tarantino.info Books section (working it right now):

<LINK_TEXT text=“The Quentin Tarantino Archives - Everything QT since 1999 … &Itemid=48”>The Quentin Tarantino Archives - Everything QT since 1999</LINK_TEXT>

I’ve also read the book from Jami Bernard.

Its a great one and highly recommend.

For german fan I can also recommend “Der rote Faden aus Blut - Erzählstrukturen bei Quentin Tarantino”.

I dont know it there is any english translation.

In this book you can get a lot of information of the backgroud of creating the storys of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. The narrative structure and some technical stuff. Really great.

Does anybody read this book??

heres a picture (CLICK ON IT TO BUY AT AMAZON.DE):

what QT books have y’all read? please post your comments or reviews in here. which ones did you like, which ones did you think aren’t worth a rat’s dick?

I’ve read shooting from the hip … I thought it was alright … I’ve seen the Man and his movies book but I thought QT blasted that writer for it?

I haven’t heard of that. But QT really didnt actively support Jami Bernard, I think… he just gave interviews and such…

If you read that somewhere, you could give us a source to work with

I’ve read The Film Geek Files and Interviews next to The Man and his movies

who read The Cinema Of Cool? anyone?

or King Pulp?

Tarantino A to Zed?

we need more revies. send in your stuff if you’ve read those.

I have :

  • All the Scripts (except 4 Rooms)
  • BFI Modern Classics : Pulp Fiction

    -King Pulp

    -Quentin Tarantino Interviews

King Pulp is very interesting. It has lots of talks of : David Carridine and Glorious Bastards, the Italian film which Inglorious Bastards is lifting its name from. When I find the book (which may take awhile) I’ll scan some pages.

I can’t ever bring myself to buy QT books. Everytime I walk into a Barnes & Noble or wherever, I always end up picking up fiction or, it its not fiction, something dealing with people that have died long ago.

Celebrity bios just don’t do it for me, I guess.

Why the hell is that Tarantinoun(sp) book so much fucking $$$?

i read the cinema of cool.

um webmaster dude are there any books that cover him like up to 2003, production of kill bill

I’ve got A to Zed. Of course this now means that a new edition will be made due to Kill Bill. ::slight_smile:

I’ll get it anyway.

there are no books out there covering the new things, but hey, that’s why you’re here, right? all the latest stuff you get in here, no need for a book

It so pisses me off that every single book has mistakes. Usually really obvious ones that would just involve WATCHING the FILMS to rectify. Jami Bernard one is good. Jeff Dawson is a fool

Cheers for the link

sounds pretty decent what that guy writes. i havent read the book but now i think i’m getting it because it seems like the guy really took some time getting into the stuff

The part about Sonny Chiba reading lines about the tyranny of evil men before that person got killed and Jules doing the same in Pulp is amusing because Sonny Chiba actually came down to the Pulp set and happened to catch the scene where Jules does that speech, a nice coincidense.

personal reviews or editorial reviews?
