Butch staring at Vincent

I’ve always wondered. In the “in the fifth your ass goes down”-scene when Vincent and Butch meet near the counter they have this small conversation : "Looking at something, my friend ? - You aint my friend balooga. " And just when the situation seems to get out of hand, Vincent gets called by Marsellus. After that when Butch turns along with the camera he gives Vincent this weird look. I’ve always wondered what that meant. He looks like he thinks he knows Vincent of something, but there isnt really any hint to that anywhere in the movie. That their karma’s are gonna cross later in the movie isn’t a big secret, but they do not know that by that time. So what do you think Butch is thinking ? It isn’t just that he’s offended or angry because of their little conversation. It’s more of a surprised, confused look than that. Maybe he’s surprised that Vincent is friends with Marsellus or something, and thinking about what would’ve happened if they actually got in a fight.

What do you think ?

I think he’s thinking: This guy would be lying in a pool of blood on the floor unless he wasn’t so fucking buddy-buddy with Marcellus Wallace. You all know what happens later…

Totally. Its like he wants to start something but knows if he does he jeopardises his deal with Wallace. He gets his revenge when he keys his car though…oh yeah and when he shoots the shit out of him.

I guess that’s it.

this explains it
