Comical Incongruity and Irony

Loved this film. One thing that made the film is the comical incongruities used. The main characters were rather smart, but too smart to resort to their way of making a living. They would hold an intellectual conversation in one moment, and shoot someone the next. When driving with the Mervin character, Travolta accidentally shoots the backseat passenger while engaged in an intellectual inquiry. This also brings a sense of irony–another characteristic of the film. This sparked interest and made the movie a work of art.
