[Vol 1] I Saw Kill Bill At London Premiere Last Night

Review:

WOW. FUCKING WOW!

That Quentin Tarantino is a genius, we all already knew and those who’ve had their doubts should no longer have them after they see this film. It’s a freakin’ masterpiece.

Quick Intro to the story: The Bride gets shot on her wedding day by her former employer Bill and his band of assassins with whom the Bride once worked. She doesn’t just get shot, she gets brutally beaten and left for dead. Everyone there dies, her husband, the preacher, “the blind organ player….etc. She wakes up and then goes on a rampage of revenge. THERE. That’s all you need to know.

The story at times is terrifying. But only at times. However you do not feel shocked by what is happening all the time. There are moments of comedy that lighten the mood. But it’s not a parody by no means. The Bride takes herself very seriously when she needs to.

Uma is Queen!!! The girl played her heart out for the film. She played it perfectly! QT did the right thing by waiting for her to give birth to her child before starting filming instead of choosing someone else for the role.

Another actress who was superb in the film is Lucy Lui. That girl kicks some serious arse. She is sexy, terrifying and hilariously funny! BY FAR the best she’s been in a film ever. (She should definitely stop making those crappy Charlie’s Angels films, she has so much talent!).

REALLY MINOR SPOILER- There is an anime sequence in the film about Lucy’s character,(that’s the spoiler, see, I told you it was minor) and it is this anime sequence that is the most horrifying. END

As you all know the body count in this film is high…but not as high as the limb count; lemme put it this way: ‘Things get chopped off’! But the real genius of Quentin is that he did not make this so we are shocked but it was rather done in a style that makes it appear as art. It’s beautiful (and no, I am not a Psycho). When you see heads being cut clean off the shoulders you will not be shitting yourself with disgust or fear, you will laugh at it! As I said, it’s beautiful.

Another thing that really stood out was the shots. The film is stylistically amazing. At times I thought Hitchcock was behind the camera in the selection of shots. (A massive inprovement on Resercoir Dogs which was still great). When I was leaving the cinema a lot of people were talking about this. I won’t go explaining it, because it’s best that you see it for yourself.

I guess I should mention the Japanese girl who wears the school uniform in the movie and in the trailer. She’s the one with that chain with a ball in front on the trailer. She was really good too. Baddass Bitch!

The fight between her and Uma is quality. In fact towards the last 25 mins the fighting with the Samurai swords becomes soooooo good. And Uma really convinces you that she can handle that sword, that she isn’t just a pretty model waving this toy around. The action itself makes your heart race really fast.I should point out that if you dont like blood- stay as far away from this film as possible!

Kill Bill Volume. 1 is a great movie. A fucking terrific movie. It has ‘coolness’ written all over it! Definitely up there with the Dogs and Pulp! I can’t praise it enough. It’s a must see movie. The film pisses on Reloaded and Hulk and any other shit that’s come out this summer. Just a kick ass movie.

Out of 5 stars: * * * * * (without doubt). Actually I should say 6 stars but you’ll see for urself.)

DISAPPOINTMENTS: None

MINOR DISAPPOINTMENTS:

-The legend that is Michael Madsen was hardly in the film, but he will be in Vol. 2 a lot

-You see hardly anything of David Carradine (but QT assures us that he’ll be in almost every shot in Vol. 2)

-Little dialogue but the adrenaline rush makes you not care

*END OF REVIEW

Bravo! Good job!

So how crazy were people around that galla premiere in London? Were there like thousands of people shouting Uma! pictures! Smile! and stuff outside the cinema? Did you get to see Tarantino or Thurman?

Was there any after party somewhere? did you go there, you didn’t take exclusive pictures with your hidden camera?

I still hope I am gonna see Kill Bill tomorrow in Copenhagen ( they show Suprise Premiere first saturday of each month, I can just hope I am going there for un-subbed Kill Bill)

Erm,

QT, Uma, Daryl, Madsen and Go go(dont know her real anme) were there.

They introduced the show.

There were 1000s of ppl outside and a few hundred inside including a media frenzy!

I didn’t get into the aftershow party, not even sure there was one.

All the stars I named above left before the film was shown.

They have a real tight promotion schedule in Europe so they might of gona before the film finished

I did get into the VIP area with the manager after I lost my fucking camera

but the place was pretty dry.hardly anyone was there. it was shit. the movie was wickid tho.

People loved it. People loved the film. It made some of the ppl uneasy,

but you could they enjoyed it. and in the middle of the film

when we see something exciting happen (eg. head being cut off)

the crowd would start clapping. this happen about 5,6 times

How far were you sitting from the stage where Quentin Tarantino and the crew came up to introduce the screening?

Very nice to hear the amount of times people would clap… How bout the amount of times everybody in the cinema would laugh?

Where did all the people go when the screening was over? You said you were in somekind of VIP area?

I’ll bring my camera and take pictures at the Kill Bill screening in Copenhagen tomorrow, if there is going to be one.

I was quite far from the screen but quite near them when they were coming in.

Ppl clapped often. There was a really good vibe form the crowd.

When the screening was over some ppl hanged around, some left straight away.

QT and his crew left before the filmstarted I’ve heard since then.

They are on a “whirwind tour” so they dont stick around anywhere long enough.

As i said, they didnt even watch the movie with us

They all add interesting details about how they were lucky to see Kill Bill before 10th October, and this info is kind of exclusive for tarantino.info !

I hope I am seeing Kill Bill in 45 minutes.
This is not fair! I have to wait till the tenth to see it! Well at least I can watch the trailers over and over. Have you seen the kill phil trailer or gone on the site www.tarantinoforever.com. Those will keep you entertained until the release of the movie (for those of us who have not seen it)
Kill Phil thing killed me.

the guy came to the Kill BIll forum and showed it to everyone. its brilliant

Thanks for the review!

I have yet to see Kill Bill.

So I went to this special danish premiere thing hoping to watch Kill Bill but then they showed stupid Finding Nemo (danish premiere), so I left the cinema after a couple minutes and didn’t get my 12 dollars back.

But I took this picture of the danish Kill Bill poster:

I have also yet to see the Kill Phill trailer! where it is I hope to find in searching this forum.
