I think QT hiring Britney Spears would be like him going over the line. I couldnt accept it from him, esp when hes one of my most favorite directors. It would be like Scorsese picking Hillary Duff to star in his next film. I mean, cmon man. Forget the teeny bopper/Lindsay Lohan shit and make some real cinema.

Id be lying if I said Death Proof was his best film. Im sure I exaggerated how much I liked it too after the first few times I saw it (hey it was a new QT movie) but its a thing where I need to step back and let the dust settle before I can really place how I feel about it. I mean its a fun movie, but its not the kind of thing where I'm gobsmacked by how incredibly good it is. Its a fun, crazy exploitation flick with some cool moments. Id never put it on a Top 10 Favorite film list. Its probably somewhere in my Top 100.

I think the problem with DP is not that he lost his touch or that he wasn't totally into making this, but it is in my opinion that the restrictions that you have when making a movie in the grindhouse genre has were in the way.

Often given as the most important critique on DP is the boring dialogue. I don't see how QT could make the dialogue any more suited for a movie within this genre. If he made it less boring it wouldn't be in the style of Grindhouse movies...it has to be corny and kinda weak. I think he did a BRILLIANT job finding a fine line between his own style and dialogue and finding that b-movie dialogue feel.

Same with the choice for the effects and budget, they made a fine blend between what they are capable of and giving enough grindhouse kick to the movies to be able to call it Grindhouse. Now this also gives him restrictions, because, as stated above, if you polish it up to much he would've written himself out of the genre he wanted to be in with this movie.

I think it is a great achievement and it is excellently executed in the way both QT and RR did this, but the price is lack of support for the movie because it gets less interesting to view an awful lot for most of the people...

I think a director should always follow his own heart and not do fatal adjustments, just to keep the public happy.

Having said this I dont think doing "Faster Pussy Cat! Kill! Kill!" would be a good choice, because he will restrict himself too much. Just let him do IB and mix it up with everything in his pop culture expertise, like he did with kill bill and reinvent and blend moviegenres into a real masterpiece without the restrictions that come with doing a movie in one genre only.

Id much rather see him do his Moonshiner movie. Thats something that would be alot of fun. It will give him another chance to try some diff kind of dialogue too. Id love to hear QTs spin on the hillbilly talk. I really dont want to see a remake of Pussycat. Its one of my fave cult films and I dont think its worth it. Plus Im not a fan of Britney, Kim or Eva. Kim and Eva are sexy, but who cares? Its not enough of a reason to do a fuckin movie.

Damn, I can't wait for IB. I hope to God he doesn't do it like a TV series like he sort of said, to Seb. It has to be one giant epic, and if it's split into 2-3 films, it doesn't matter. He could do companion pieces (a la Eastwood's recent epics), a trilogy or seperate them by volumes. I think he has too much for one film, or he could just condense it all, and make a 3 hour extravaganza. Either way, I want it to be a feature film(s).

yeah my heart sank when i heard that news (or rumor, rather).  I really think that, regardless of the cast, if he did this movie I would stop being a Tarantino fan.  I would still like the old stuff but wouldn't really care what new stuff he does.

I know this post is several months later than the previous posts but I feel i'm going to give my 2 cents the January discussion about Death Proof and whether it was good.  I think Death Proof is a great movie.  It seems like people forget what it is, it's Quentin's take on b-movies.  It can't be fairly compared to Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill because those are A movies and where meant to be so.  So it's easy to write off any flaws of Death Proof, as it's not supposed to be at the same level of quality of his previous films.  The real disappointment is the failure of Grindhouse at the box office, people who weren't Tarantino or Rodriguez fans just weren't showing up.  So Quentin wouldn't be feeling down about Death Proof, but about Grindhouse, the collaboration between him and RR that they were so passionate about.

Like someone else brought up in the topic, in Charlie Rose interviews he pointed out that other directors started losing touch after a movie that they're really passionate about is recieved poorly.  He said that after this happens directors tend to release star vehicles for much of the rest of their career.   So, if Inglorious bastards stars fucking Tom Hanks, George Clooney and Harrison Ford then fuck... the very thing that Tarantino said about the downfall of other directors will have happened to him.

I doubt that will happen though, because Inglorious Bastards is a project he's very passionate about and has been planning through most of his directing career and he's always said he doesn't look for people on "the list", but for whoever would be best for the part (which is usually someone off "the list").

Pornstar Tera Patrick might be in the remake:  http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/t ... n-star.php

I dont think Tera looks like Tura at all, but thats just my opinion.

Hmm... this could be interesting, but I seriously dont see this remake happening for a long long time.

In the film, Varla -- who was originally played by Tura Satana -- murders a man with her bare hands and also has sex with girls.

Is my copy of the movie edited or what? Cause I don't remember any sex with girls in the flick.

And I don't think Britney would play Tura Satana's role anyway. She's more suited to play Billie.

The women in Pussycat are supposed to be such bad assess Britney isn't a bad ass by any stretch of the imagination..

And didn't they "recruit"  the "actresses" from Pussycat from strip joints.  I mean weren't they just strippers.

That's what QT should do go to a strip joint to get his actreseses.  It will really bring an air of authenticity to the roles.  Hard boiled women who have lived.  Not some fluffy pop singer or porn star...

Yeah..  QT probably already knows a few...

Ya know what it is. QT goes out to bars and talks to people about making diff movies and he says: I would cast "so and so" as this person if I ever remade it. That gets out to the person then they tell their PR person to put it in the tabloids that they are gonna be cast in a QT movie.

QT said the same thing about when he was talking about Bastards to different actors at a bar or party. I bet all the people that he talked to and that were once rumored to be in there wont be. Eli Roths name never came up until today.

I am not closing this topic. This is all rumor and no substance. There's a reason why no "serious" news source exists for this, because it's plain and simple HOAX. Case closed
