i have all of the four releases for SB but not my young auntie. Is it any good? I'd like to buy all the SB movies that come out of this, but dont know if my young auntie is right for me. Any thoughts, is it good, i loved 36th chamber and five fingers (i've yet to watch one-armed).

sweet jeezus, i need to watch the movie now....

I have the old Mei Ah, which I think has out-of-sync audio. I might send that one into retirement for the Dragon Dynasty one.... what do you think?

I don't know about the Mei Ah discs (there was a remaster too, apparently with one of those awful remixes). I've got the Tartan Collectors Edition myself. Good image (although some compression artifacts are visible a few times), uncut, great original mono and all possible remixes, hardly any extras. DD should be fine, their site isn't listing original mono but it could be a mistake and I don't assume they'd use a Mei AH crap mix anyway. But who knows.

Well the trilogy about cops kirk wong directed in the early nineties. All 3 were written by an ex-cop who signed his scripts Mr X. There are : crime story, organised crime and triad bureau and rock’n’roll cop (this one is not very well-known). Thanks to the connection of Kirk wong, Mr X and danny Lee (star of organised crime and triad bureau) in the police, they were able to shoot amazing scenes like a huge shootout in the middle of a huge street (it is impossible to get this kind of authorisation in HK...)!

Ah, thanks

I've heard rock’n’roll cop is supposed to be awesome

Yeah. They would sometimes shoot without authorisation and once they see a cop, they grab the camera and run, haha

I haven't read through these pages but a couple days ago I purchased the 5 fingers of death movie that was re-released by the DD! They are doing Shaw Bros re-releases! I find it cool, but what sucks is they re-mastered them and now they don't have the ol' Grindhouse feel!

Very likely. I'm almost certain DD has the rights.
me wrote: Fistful Of Talons
Possible, but not likely. It's not a Fortune Star or Celestial film as far as I know. Then again, nor is Hard Boiled but hey, that's Hard Boiled. I think they'll stick mostly to Fortune Star and Celestial films because otherwise in many cases they'd have to do the whole remastering process themself.

This may have been stated already but the One Armed Swordsman DVD packaging says there is a commentary track that includes QT. This is BS. He's not on it, only the other two guys. They even say they wished he was there on the track. I was so pissed off that I returned it and got Fist Full of Dollars SE DVD instead. I hate false advertising.

Well I hope they release both of them, Chinese Boxer is released on dvd but it is very hard to find and I would love to hear commentary by QT and Fistful of talons isnt released any where that I know of but like you said they will have to remaster it.

Thanks for info Hungfist.

The Chinese Boxer is actually very easy to find but the dvd (IVL/Celestial) is majorly fucked up so lets just wait for the DD
(there's a Japanese dvd too which should fix the audio problems but probably features the same IVL PAL to NTSC transfer)

that is correct. The Police Story films have worse transfers than the Hong Kong releases by IVL, My Young Auntie doesn't have the original audio, and Hard Boiled is dubtitled. I also recall reading something about the 36th Chamber subs being less than great...

Well I can handle not so good transfers but audio I can not take. Why did they change(never seen Young Auntie btw)the audio anyway?

^ Same here. I can take bad picture transfers, because it gives the old look to the film, but bad audio would suck.
