Tarantino doesn't get paid based on the number of DVD sales.

going back to shoot new scenes seems like a trend for directors.

Jackson did it for Lord Of The Rings

It's not a new trend.  doing re-shoots or pick-up shots have been happening for years.

I just read the original press release at

http://www.dvddebate.com/article.php?si ... ed&order=0

and they indicated the running time with 111 minutes, that means it will most likely NOT include the additional 4 minutes shown in Japan.

There is some additional footage from the House of Blue Leaves I presume, like the Bride cutting off Sofie's other arm.

Im the topic: "Japanese in KB" you can find a link from jeffka. about someone who wrote a review of the movie about the jap version:
He post:

Why don't you ask Tomohiro Machiyama.

His contact email's on that page.

He was the guy that saw the Japanese version and reported on it here:

Uma doesn't look bad in that poster I put up, but there's another one where the lighting is not flattering and she looked worse.

I'm also wondering what the extra four minutes are but I dont feel like reading all that.

That JapAttack film review is lousy. So many critics who think Tarantino is just jacking off with Kill Bill. So many critics missing the point. So much burning hatred for the media.

As far as the DVD goes, I'm sure that the extra Japanese footage will be included in a subsequent special edition, if not the April release. It might have to be unrated, but so be it - there are tons of DVDs out there with unrated versions of R-rated movies.

Most critics loved it.

Go to Ginenn.net

Kill Bill is the 6th best reviewed film of 2003 based on nearly every single top 10 list made by a critic this year

Yeah, but Mirimax might be fags when it comes to release unrated dvd's. Especially how they're affiliated with Disney and whatnot

God, Disney ruins everything. Alias is on ABC, which is owned by Disney, which means that nothing can be too graphic or "disturbing" on that show, which is lame. Granted, it's a network TV show, but still. Jennifer Garner co-presented with Mickey Mouse at the Oscars. MICKEY. MOUSE. Corporate incest of the highest order. Poor girl.

Sorry. This has nothing to do with anything. Moving on...

This is all Harvey Weinstein's fault. He altered the original plans.

He is a money grubbing whore of the highest level. Right now he is swimming in a mountain of $100 dollar bills and three hookers in his penthouse suite.

I browsed through the last 2 articles and didnt see anything there about additional scenes. If there's four extra minutes, then theres gotta be a good deal of shit that we didnt see here. I'm guessing mostly cut scenes from the Crazy 88 massacre and the maiming of Sofie

"Tarantino Talks 'Kill Bill' DVD and Sequel
[ Kill Bill | Posted by: MrDisgustingon 01.13.04 @ 09:28 pm ]

Fox News writes, "Tarantino told me that we will not be seeing "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" until April instead of the planned February release. "To make that date I would have had to come back from promoting ['Vol. 1'] and go right back into editing," he said. "I had to take a break."

In that time, a DVD for "Vol. 1" will be released with a few extras, namely songs that were cut from the first chapter. "Eventually we're going to have one big DVD with both movies," he said. Other than the songs, though, "Vol. 1" will be a straight-ahead transfer to DVD.

More importantly, Tarantino is pondering more chapters in the series. "I've thought of prequels and sequels," he said. "I had this great idea where we wait five years and come back not with the Bride as the main character, but Vernita's (Vivica A. Fox) daughter as the main character. It would be fifteen years in the future, and the Bride (Uma Thurman) would be in a wheelchair."

Songs cut from the first chapter? WTF?
Wait wait...15 years in the future. The bride wouldn't be more than 50 years old...why would she be in a wheelchair then?

Maybe I'm just nitpicking. Anyway, I'm a consumer whore (and how!) and well aware of it, so I admit I'll take whatever they spoonfeed me. I just really enjoy the movie that much, and, probably have terrible spending habits. 12 different editions of Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2? So be it, thats what'll sit in my DVD collection. Needless to say, I'll certainly be picking up Vol 1 on the "barebones" DVD release in April. Chances are, hopefully, there will only be 3 different DVD's: Vol 1 by itself, Vol 2 by itself, and a special edition boxset of the two. I have no problems buying all three.

I guess the part that says "straightforward transfer" pretty much means that the Kill Bill vol. 1 dvd will be without the color HOBL scene and the extra minutes. I think the only thing we're gonna get here is the cut-and-dried theatrical version.

We're gonna hafta wait for the two-fer edition to see the Japanese version, that is if we get to see it at all

I think it's uselsess to talk about Kill Bill DVD special features when we only know the specs for the first release. so people, all you can do is post your wishes, and believe me, neither Harvey Weinstein, nor his DVD producers will listen to you

sorry, maybe a stupid question, but:

Does this mean there will be a region 2, coming out at the 19th April, bare-boned :
http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?r=0 ... &n=1&burl=
and a region 1, coming out at the 13th April, with special Features:
http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?r=0&s=1&c=3289

Why? Can someone explain this to me?  ???

I think we get an identical release for both regions. That news there about the R2 is from January, whereas the other news is from yesterday. They just haven't updated the info.

Why should those be any different?

addition:
And yeah, the release dates may differ up to a week depending on the country because of shipment times. Here in Finland it's gonna be out April 16th...

Don't get your hopes too high on special features. It will probably be just those Tarantino trailers in the menu screenshot (which I already own and could give two shits about) and some cast biographies. And if we're REALLY lucky, we'll also get some short behind the scenes stuff we've already seen and downloaded online a billion times before. Any sane individual would wait till the super duper box-set' ll come out, but it's too hard to stay away from Vol. 1 another nine months or so.

I hate capitalism.  >:(
