Tarantino Universe

I’m sorry if there already is a topic on this, but I have searched for it and didn’t find it.

I hear people talk about the diffrent Tarantino universes, such as the movie-movie universe. I never heard Quentin say anything about this, and I wondered if anyone could give me a link to where he said it, or explain me in detail what the universes are about. Thx

There isn’t so much a topic on it already, so much as many of the topic discuss this movie situation of movie/real-universes. But, yeah, it’s there.

The deal is, in the movie universe, anything is possible. It isn’t limited by the boundries of a realistic gun wound, or a realistic situation. Kill Bill for instance, 88 men? That kind of battle just isn’t possible. It’s simmilar to real life, but it just isn’t the same. Cinematic magic ensues, and his movies become, well, in the movie world.

I kinda figured that out, but thanks anyway, I appreciate it.

Is this all? No deeper meaning? He never described it with more details? I also heard that the Wolf can travel through all the universes, if there is no depper meaning and no more details on this why did even Quentin mention this? I’m puzzled… ???

Because films have different genres, he doesnt think that some characters from one genre would fit in another genre…but he thinks that he could fit in the wolf in any genre…

ok, thanks for clearing it all up!

I fuckin’ hate it when other people (the mainstreamers) say things like “How the fuck can you have a sword in a plane” or “How can that happen” etc, about Kill Bill, and when you explain to them that it’s a different universe and is not in the real world they’re all like “that’s just some shit Tarantino makes up to hide the stupidity of it” They just don’t understand the logic and reasoning behing half the things Mr Tarantino does and pursue to diss him and his films anyway. motherfuckers get me so angry the bastards.

This is the best one: “Blood doesn’t really spray like that…” :o

The celluloid world of Tarantino defies the physical and scientific laws of our world. Simple as that. People have shit for brains and try to inject reason and fact, when Tarantino dances on them with well placed cynicism, implausibility, and lastly most importantly fantasy. His films reach beyond the bounds of logic without any obvious confrontive challenge, but with gratuitious irony and wit in a somewhat visceral literal sense but definitely and defiantly emphatic way.

:o I really need to expand my vocabulary after that post.

What people don’t get is that Tarantino’s films aren’t supposed to be real. They take place in a universe I only dream about. Man, I wish I was in the Kill Bill Universe now.

I wish I were in the Kill Bill verse too.

Seriously, people say Kill Bill is a separate universe than Tarantino’s other films yet ironically there remains a dubious coincidence both Texas Rangers from FDTD and Kill Bill have the last name of McGraw and both are portrayed by Parks. Are they brothers?

I thought FDTD and Kill Bill were both in the “fantasy” universe

Technically, the first hour of FDTD is in the “real” verse and the second being in the “movie” verse. At least that’s what I think. And people who are like “you can’t do that in real life.” about KB, well no shit it’s a movie. And besides when a movie has animated an segment you can pretty much tell it’s gonna an “animated” type of movie.

No, what I am saying is some people out there are claiming there are two “fantasy” 'verses in the cinematic world of Tarantino. On one hand you have True Romance, From Dusk Til Dawn, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction… on the other hand you have the Kill Bill 'verse according to some.

Yet Michael Parks plays a Texas Ranger named McGraw both in FDTD and KB, that visits the convenience store/gas station at the beginning of FDTD and gets blown away by Richard Gecko. And he also plays another Texas Ranger McGraw at the beginning of KB Vol. 1, investigating the Massacre at Two Pines. Are they two different fantasy 'verses?!?
