I have been hearing November 2011 and January 2012.

As far as we know, there is no official shooting schedule or anything yet. However, when it was first announced that it would be filming in New Orleans, they did say something about 2012. (http://reservoirwatchdogs.com/2011/08/2 ... w-orleans/)

Yea that seems to be the assumed production start date at the moment, everyone's reporting that. MAN, i can't wait to see the props, costumes and everything! So excited to see Quentin's take on the spaghetti western!

also depends on the definition. a lot of things run in parallel in the build up to a shooting. so is building the sets part of it? what about actors training? etc.

I think it starts filming in November but Sam Jackson, Dicaprio, Russell, and pretty much all the actors appearing in the 2nd act will start filming the beginning of the year.

It has to be January.

DiCaprio is still filming The Great Gatsby in Australia and its going to continue till 23rd December.

And if Gordon-Levitt gets cast, he's busy filming TDKR and Lincoln.Even though he has supporting roles in both films, I doubt he'll be free by November.

It's physically impossible for any actor to do so many films at the same time.

My guess is last week of January.

They could be filming all kinds of non-actor stuff early, or 2nd unit stuff. also, not all actors have screen time during the whole of the movie... and there is all the rehearsing and set building... yeah january sounds about right.. but i guess we'll be hearing more and more very soon. birdies tell me this thing is gearing up

According to Django Unchained's IMDb page, the status shows that filming has already started.

DiCaprio's still in Australia and filming has already begun? I don't get it.

Any confirmation on that?

If this is true its cuz DiCaprio isnt in the entire film. They probably started with the Django & Dr King Schultz scenes first and will have him shoot later this winter.
