Well the Dragon Dynasty might be better for me because there region 1 and then i dont have to buy a second dvd player. But they are only releasing 3 titles that i want. 36th chamber of shoalin, king boxer and the one armed swordsman. which is gay cause i want all of the above. any news if there releasing any of those titles?
There’s a “Quentin Tarantino presents: Shaw Brothers Collection” coming at the end of the year but titles haven’t been confirmed. I wouldn’t be surprised to see such films as Venoms, Pai Mei films and The Chinese Boxer there.
But you’re right, if you want to see a lot of remarkable Shaw films, DD is never gonna get over releasing even half of them. You could just get the Celestials and see if you can live with them. Otherwise you’ll have to track down each title separetely from different countries and if you want them with english subs then some of the mono releases are going to be non-anamorpic. And some of the titles have been released only by Celestial so you still can’t get totally rid of them.
Well if quentins shaw package contains what you said and i get the other three that i have mentioned i should be set for my shaw collection. But ill eventually have to get duel of the iron fist, invincible pole fighter and vengeance cause those look extremley good. Have you seen vengeance , the duel of the iron fist or the savage five?
Vengeance I have seen. I though it good but that’s all. Laydback (and many other people) loves it.
The Eight Diagram Pole Fighter is a must, one of my favourite Shaw films along with Executioners From Shaolin, Boxer From Shantung and The One Armed Swordsman trilogy.
yeah i ordered invinvicble pole fighter and clan of the white lotus about a month ago from Hong Kong DVD central. It turns out a few days later that the dvds i got are bootlegs from the redsun company. But it seems the website is inactive and hasent even proceesed the order. But still took my money. Im kinda glad the dvds didnt come though cause i dont want no shitty ass bootleg with bad dubbing.
Whatever you do dont order from here, they promise cheap remastered shaw pictures, BULLSHIT!

Never get asian dvds from non-asian stores. You either end up ripped off (bootlegs) or ripped off (prices). Many US stores have 2 or 3 times higher prices especially for old HK dvds which they are selling for 10-12$ each. The real HK prices for the same discs are around 4$. The HK prices have come up in the recent years, though.

Well i ordered these over a month ago from here http://hongkongdvdcentral.com/ and thought they would never come well they arived today and i was pissed that i wasted my money on bootlegs. So i said fuck it and threw them in the DVD player, to my surprise the picture is perfect with your choice of english or original language. So im almost positive they are copied from the celestial dvds.
But despite the good picture quality and sound, they are bootlegs and the dvd is shit, its one of those blue discs with printer paper for the picture. But whats good about these DVds is that they are region 1 and they are basically the same thing as the celestial releases with english subs, so in a way ther better than the celestial’s.

None of those sound like Shaw films to me
